Hello guys, this is my first post so please let me know if I have an error or something for this post.I want to know who has better quality in terms of streaming on Beovision Horizon, Google cast or spotify connect? And what would be the reason?Thanks
I am not aware of (native) support for Spotify Connect on the BV Horizon.
Are you using an app from the Google store for that?
Basicly there should be no difference there - since both fetch the stream directly to the tv, when it has been initialized.

Welcome to the forum!
Google Cast and Spotify Connect are different things with different purposes. Spotify Connect is a "client" (or a reciver) for a streaming service - Spotify provides the content in an encoded format (Ogg Vorbis, at some bitrate) and the Spotify Connect application can decode that content. Google Cast is a transport mechanism that lets you route an audio stream to some device from some other device - but it's agnostic with respect to the encoding format.
So, if you are running Spotify at 320 kbps Ogg Vorbis on a device, and you compare that to using Google Cast to transport a 128 kbps MP3 version of the same song (say, from your hard drive), then Spotify will be "better". However, if you are using Google Cast to transport a 44.1 kHz, 16-bit uncompressed wav file instead, then the Google Cast stream will be "better". (But you can't run Spotify at 44.1/16 uncompressed...)

This link has the information about the three technical quality levels of Spotify. Note that the bitrate of the signal is dependent not only on a device, but your subscription to the service.
However, this is the codec that is used for streaming. There is no guarantee that the original track that they're using to do the Ogg Vorbis encoding was "full quality" 44.1/16 or higher.. For example, I have seen a track on another streaming service (that usually sends lossless 44.1/16 signals) at 96 kbps AAC at 44.1 kHz. I also have a CD that I bought once-upon-a-time that has a track on it that has obvious MP3 artefacts... It's a 44.1/16-bit decoded version of a low-bitrate lossy codec.
What happens to that signal when it gets played on any particular device is beyond the limits of my knowledge. Sorry...

In my view - basicly none...if you could send both to the Horizon.
Since you can not (not that I know) play via Spotify Connect to the BV Horizon, you would have to use two different receiving devices.
And that is where the trouble starts - you'll never know how two different devices handles the (same) stream!
Some day I'll try that out on my Essence (2nd gen), which has support for both.
And even there you can't be quite sure, that both are treated equal internally.
However, I doubt that I would hear any difference.

How are you able to compare?
The V1 has neither support for Spotify Connect nor for Chromecasting.
P.S. I use a Chromecast Audio dongle (setup via digital-out) on my V1 myself.
Quite handy - this way I am able to distribute the sound to other devices on my NL-network.

I have a Chromecast dongle via HDMI connected to my V1. This Chromecast Dongle supports Spotify Connect. This is indeed very handy to stream from Spotify.
On the other hand, the V1 has a Spotify function by itself.
What I want to understand is which formats and bitrates are used for Spotify via the Chromecast Dongle, vs. Spotify via the V1 Native App.

the built-in app on the V1 only works with the Premium version of Spotify, which is Ogg Vorbis lossy compression at 320kpbs.
I suppose that you (for comparison) also use the Premium version through your HDMI-Chromecast (?).
The Chromecast upsamples the stream (from 44.1 kHz) to 48 kHz - this is often the case when using HDMI connected devices.
Whether you (or anyone else) can hear this, is hard to tell - it is possible to measure it, though.
How these streams are treated internally (decoded to analog signals/sound etc) inside the V1, I don't know.
But again - it probably will be hard to hear a difference...if there is any.
IMO that shouldn't bother you too much - have a listen and pick whatever way serves you best.
P.S. there might even be differences in the setup of these sources on the tv (the internal Spotify and the port used for connecting the Chrome-dongle). There are a lot of different ways to tweak the sound in the V1 for each input individually (see the User Guide and the Technical Sound Guide).

Reminds me of an old saying, and my corollary, that I learned from my mentor in college, an experimental physicist:
It's very hard to find a black cat in a dark room, even if he's there.
My corollary was:
But if you really want him to be there, you can convince yourself you hear him purr, even if he's not there.
Two items that I've used a lot in my career to guard against fooling yourself with testing results.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
It depend on which streaming music app you are using. If you are using the Spotify Music, then Spotify Connect is good for you to streaming Spotify with Spotify Connect. However, this way you need to subscribe to Premium membership, though there is still way to use Spotify with Spotify Connect for Free user.
But if you are using Google Play Music, then Google Cast is the best option. It is convenient for you to playing Google Play Music directly without any further action. Besides, if you are using other music, maybe Beovision Horizon will work.
Thus, making a decision on your music app that you listen to everyday.
Spotify is best among all of music streaming services. I would recommend spotify and also try MusConv.com tool to swtich between those music streaming services.
