I'm still a little confused on how multiroom works. I'm getting an Avant 55. If I'm steaming from the Apple Music Apple TV app or streaming airplay to my avant, can I distribute that sound to the A9 mk2? I assume you can link the A9 to any audio the avant is playing?

the Avant itself can't Airplay, at least mine bought in march this year. distributing apple music via Apple TV on hdmi through the system is no problem at all

Wohnzimmer: BeoVision Avant 55", BeoLab 11, 12-2 und 12-3 für 5.1-Sound +  appleTV 4K und Philips BluRay-Player; BeoSound 2, BeoSound 3000 (fast nur noch Deko)////Schlafzimmer: BeoEssence MkII, BeoLab 4000 + Samsung 46"-TV////Büro: BLC NL/ML, BeoSound 35, Thorens TD320MkII, Samsung 32"-TV, WesternDigital 4TB-Server////Bad: BeoLab 2000; alles CAT7 verkabelt////Küche: M5 (drahtlos) plus diverse apple-Geräte (imac, macbook, ipads, iphones, timecapsule, watch)

So by tapping the top of the A9, it will start playing what the avant is? Can I also use the BeoMusic app to send that music to the A9?

Thanks in advance for your help!

you cannot share the music if you are using airplay.

In the OP's first scenario. The Apple Music App on the Apple TV is communicating to the Avant via an HDMI.

Therefore can another room "join" the Avant's audio ?

I can JOIN the ATV audio connected to a BV11 in NL. Never tried this with Apple Music though (never had the urge to start a free period on Apple Music).

Just tried to JOIN ATV's "Music" (not Apple Music) playing on the BV11 to other NL devices. Result it does work!

This will work since your are distributing a HDMI source from the TV. But there is a restriction for Airplay to be distributed in multiroom setup. Better use the same account to your ATV that has the Apple Music subscription in order to share the sound in a multiroom setup.

Conclusion I think is use B&O to distribute sources and inject airplay into the ATV as a once-removed source.

Sounds like using the ATV app is the way to go. Should I worry about burn in on the Avant if I always displaying album art?

quite right, elephant. there are a lot of settings possible with the ATV screensavers, of course to use a fotostream of your own
