Very excited to receive the BS2 during the Thanksgiving, I guess this might be a few of very first models shipped out to customers.

I am a Non-native English speaker, if there are any grammar issues, plz ignore Big Smile

This model is Made In China.

The Aluminum extrusion and quality is pretty good.

It looks more heavier than it actually does.

Sound

Test Sources:

iPhone 6, 7 Plus, iPod Video, Macbook pro

Connection: Bluetooth. My audio cable is on the way, expecting a better sound quality from cable connection(might be).

Test Media (Applelossless to m4a format):

Four season, Hotel California, Hurt by Jonny Cash, Love Train by Wolfmother, What you know by Two Door Cinema Club, Youtube video and music.

Feelings:

On the condition of Volume 70%-100%

Bass is strong. 8/10

If you expect a crystal clear strong bass, this speaker works way much better on the non-electrical bass created by real drum, not the software. Bass from post production like DJ, is ok, not crystal clear.

Acoustic, awesome. 10/10

From mid-range to hi frequency, this speaker does perform a decent job in acoustic music.

Jazz, pretty good. 9/10

Classical, awesome. 10/10

Each instrument on the stage can be clearly distinguished when volume above 60-70%.

Best range for listening: 1-5 meters (at least for me)

On the condition of Volume 30%-70%

Bass is a little bit weak. 4/10

Acoustic, good. 6/10

Jazz, good. 5/10

Classical, awesome. 6/10

If you listen to music in a normal volume or lower, Beoplay A2 or A6 might be a little better on sound performance. BS2 is good for a middle to high volume performance, no matter the size of room and location you place it.

I was struggling between A9 and BS2 before, I would said BS2 is good enough for a normal use, especially the size is easy to move between rooms. And I heard that some of A9 has issue on wireless connection. But both design is pretty good, worth your money.

Check my test video below (Four season, volume 70-100%):

Thank you for this review. I was waiting for one since the BS2 is out. Compared to the A6 and A2, how loud can it go?

Thanks - and have fun with your BS2.

P.S. 'The Aluminum extrusion and quality is pretty good.'

No wonder - it was made in Struer!

I would say it's max volume might be 3 times louder than A2. I haven't try A6.

I have a question: I am trying to get a Beosound Essence, does that sold separately from hideway box? Or it's a bundle?

Hi,

If you're talking about the BS Essence "remote", yes, it's sold separately.

Today I had a day shopping tour in Paris and I could play a bit with the 2 newborn toys. 1st I imagined them smaller than they are (but it's not a problem). Both are impressive and nice sounding. For me the BeoSound 2 is much better : more powerful, more 'round' sound with better mediums, and according to my taste, better design with the medium speakers grid. I don't like very much the brass color.

When I entered the shop, I was impressed because I couldn't locate where from the music was coming... And it was from the BS2!

I went to listen to them and wasn't impressed - the BS1 sounded as expected, an nice bluetooth speaker. The BS2, while much nicer and fuller, sounded extremely "boomy", like a bass-boost thing a teenage boy would buy. I'm assuming it was mostly due to the setting (on a granite kitchen-countertop, near a corner). I look forward to hearing it in a different setting.

It's a thing of beauty ...

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

I've only had my BeoSound 2 for a couple of days, but I have a a little chance to listen to a variety of songs. My observations are very similar to what I have read here.  I currently have the BeoSound 2 on a quartz countertop pass-through in my kitchen.

On some songs with deep bass I think the countertop really amplifies the bass as it is overwhelming even at lower volumes.  I am trying to see if I can find a mat or something to absorb some of the bass.  Also at these volumes, to me the sound seems a little muffled (reminds me of the old BeoSound 1 I have at work).  I was wondering if the tweeter is working properly.  At higher volumes > 55 it seems like the tweeter comes alive and things sound better. I am hoping if/when they add bass and treble controls for the BeoSound 2 things will be better at the volumes I typically listen to.

Some songs, in particular Kanna Hashimoto's Arigato sounds wonderful even at my normal volumes.

The performance of the BeoSound 2 is probably affected by where I have it placed, but this is where I want it most of the time.

On the plus side when I open the pass through, the music sounds the same no matter where I am on that floor of the house!  It is pretty amazing.

I was also pretty surprised to find out that currently the BeoSound 2 will not work with the Essence remote.

I don't think is the quartz, that's very rigid, usually bass is boosted by a shelf that resonates with the sound more. I'd say it's probably being in an alcove like that, similar to the low end boost with being up against the wall, but I guess no post switch like with the Traditional Beolab.

I suppose that this will come with a future update - in fact I thought that it already is possible.

And I also suppose that the new BT-remote will work as well (could someone confirm or dispute this?).

Actually I hope the BT-remote will work on the BS2.

It would be very comfortable if you could change volume and radio stations with a remote when using this speaker in multiroom. Then this speaker would be having my outmost interest.

Good to know about the quartz.  There is no room adaption switch like the BeoLab 17 and others, but it does have Adaptive Bass Linearization but I have no idea how that plays into this.  I will have to move it to other locations to see how it performs.  Unlike the first poster I can't push the volume above 60 before it gets uncomfortable to me.  I don't have a very large home, but 45 to 48 would be normal volume for me.

When bass and treble make it to the BeoSound 2 that may solve my problem for the kitchen.  I'll have to play with it to see if I can tailor it for this area.  I'm sure the BeoSound 2 will be a fine system when this is all worked out.  I wish all my rooms were like the B&O listening room!

I've noticed similar things with my Beolit 15, at lower volumes it seems bass heavy but clears up a bit as you ramp it up, and it's very placement sensitive, too close to a wall boundary and it gets muddy. I'm sure when you can tailor the bass and treble, assuming that functionality eventually arrives, you will be able to get a much better sound, also experimenting with placement will be interesting, as my Beolit 15 has been.

Great idea about the power charging, making it like an electric kettle with a charging base, you should work in the B&O design dept!

Thanks for the compliment :-). They can hire me

I knew I wrote that comment about the kettle charging base and for the life of me I can't see it (the post) haha
