connect beomedia 1 to beocenter 1

good evening,

I am trying to connect my beomedia 1 to a recently acquired beocenter 1

I am currently using the connections that were working when the beomedia was connected to my beocenter 2( i.e: master link cable between the beomedia and the beocenter, beocenter set to option 2): the beomedia does not react to the beo4 orders 

What am I doing wrong ?

should I , because of the beocenter 1, be using a different installation
