Hi.

I'm thinking on bying my self a christmas gift to use in my kitchen. Is it someone who can tell me by their own experience if you would buy the new Beosound 2 or the Beoplay A9.

The kitchen is about 35 m2 in size.

It's two different speakers, in size and also the A9 is more expensive.. But when it's comes to the sound, what do you think?

If it's just the sound then A9. But these are very different beasts in terms of placement, design and size.

I had the chance to listen to these and I agree they are very different. Both have their advantages...

BS2 : extremely well balanced, cristal clear sound, more easy to clean (in a kitchen?), maximum volume less high (but still very high) and only mono but 360°, cheaper, new design, ...

A9 : much more loud, more 'bassy', stereo, excellent sound but less clear and a bit more directive, isn't fabric a disadvantage in a kitchen?, more expensive, takes much more space, ...

I would go for the BS2 ;-)

Sorry to correct you. But based on Geoff Martin's comments in another thread it is not actually mono as it has two midrange drivers picking up left and right channels.

I couldn't notice it :-( . I found the 360° sound very impressive as if you don't focalize your attention on the BS2, it's difficult to exactly locate it in the room.

Here is what Geoff Martin wrote:

'However, the fact that it behaves "correctly" (more or less) in a BeoSound 2 is an example of how one spatial property in stereo is preserved - even in what appears to be (but isn't) a "mono" loudspeaker.'

Personally I think, that we should focus much more on the 360 degree sound experience than on discussing whether it is mono or stereo. After all that is, what they attempted to create with this BS.
