Got a Beosound 8 in perfect condition. Only problem is that it will not power on at all.
Already checked the fuse inside, but it's ok.
What can I check next ?
Is there anybody who has every repaired a Beosound 8 successfully without changing the complete main board 999 ?

Hi Martin
It is likely that the dock connector itself is damaged. If you have an audio lead with two phono plugs to a 3,5mm jack plug you could try connecting something with a headphone jack (Smart phone or tablet) and you will probably find that your BeoSound 8 still plays via that socket.
Assuming the aux socket works, you could consider connecting an Apple Airport Express to the aux socket and you can then use Airplay to wirelessly stream to your BeoSound 8.
If you want it repairing you will need to return to a B&O dealer for them to return to the factory for repair.

Opman
Thanks Opman. Is returning the unit to the factory the only option to get it back to full working condition ?
I can exchange every part of the BS8 myself, but even the main module will be more expensive than the BS8 is worth nowadays.
Try to get a working iPod for the connector. Plug the Beosound 8 into the main, connect the iPod to the dock and let the unit alone.A few minutes after the iPod began to charge my Beosound 8 came successfully back to life. It was completely dead before. Very strange
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
Hope you both are right so I can reanimate my BS8, but first I will deassemble and clean it up.
Will report back how it is going on.
If it's possible to reanimate the BS8 with an older iPod or via Line-in for me it sounds like a software problem.
Would a software update cure this problem ? Anyone experience with this ?
No need to disassemble! Try using an iPod (just charging first) and line-in first!
The BS8 is back to life again ! Thanks to all who gave the hint using an iPod. It really works.
I used an old iPod 4th Generation from my son. The BS8 powered on immidiatly.
Only problem now is that neither the keypad on the BS8 itself nor the remote are working. The remote got brand new batteries today, but maybe, while disassembling the main board for checking the fuse, I destroyed the little ribbon cable that goes from the keypad board to the board next to it.
Any idea if it's possible to get this one new from B&O ?
Good news:
I managed to repair the small ribbon cable myself, so the BS8 is now fully functional !
It was a real bargain. Paid 50€ for it in perfect condition. Only thing I paid extra were new batteries for 3€.
Now I'm happy with my new toy
Thanks again to all who helped.
Hi Martin,
I read you manage to repair the cable. I have got a Beosound 8, which has the same symptoms. When an iPhone is inserted, it works well. Today I dismantled it and I am pretty sure it is the ribbon cable or the connectors to the ribbon cable that are causing the problems. I would be glad if you could explain how you managed to get rid of the ribbon cable problems.

Hi Kristian & Christoph,
in my case I managed to resolder the cable to the connector, but there were only two leads ripped off, not the complete connector.
