Søren Hammer: Orava: Oh, I'm short of them I think they normally would perish because of age, my unit had been stored in a warm, smokefree livingroom since it was new in 1973. valve1: Nice one Soren, (if you have the room) thank you for not including the price ! I have sold off some of my stuff to get the room, but it's still a bit crammed. I bought it mostly for the tapes that I am going to spool over on 10,5" reels for my Revox B77, but have found out that they contain well-made recordings of a 2003 radio program with rare music from the period 1960-1990. The Beocord 1200 is at the same size as the Beogram 1200-series and use the same lid - I now have two of those that I may want to sell off some time

Very nice! Excellent job, your setup is very sharp. I have just bought some white grill cloth, I have a pair of Beovox 3000's that I am restoring, I picked up new metal courtesy of Leslie (excellent craftsmanship) and am going to recover the grills in white as they are going in a Beolink Passive setup in my dining room which is white. I only hope I do half as good a job!
BTW, I think I'm going to wind up with the same cabinet, only on legs, as a sideboard in the dining room. Thanks again for identifying it. I already have a large Ikea wall hanging artwork up.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
super!
Very sleek look you got going on there, and a job well done on the speaker fret.

That fret is really nice. The coarser texture gives it a somewhat vintage look, which still plays very well with the rest of the setup.

New poster, welcome Erik!

Evan: However, I can't help but think they are mounted way too far up the wall.. Do you have any comments on the sound?

This was also my main concern while positioning speakers that high up to the wall. However I wanted to place speakers as high as possible to get some space around BV 10-46, also I discussed with my local dealer about this and they did not see any problems with this. Now when speakers are installed, I think there is not noticeable difference to the sound compared if they were 0,5m lower or so, also now they sound nice even when hanging in upstairs lobby which is in same space on top of the beo setup.

Chris Harrison: What is the switch above the Beolab 11?
It's light control switch related to home automation system.

Here you go my friend
Vinyl records, cassettes, open reel, valve amplifiers and film photography.
AS: Very nice setup! You can use the puc to control your appletv with beo remote, if that is what on bench.. Then you can hide it inside the cabinet :)

Oh My!
What a stunning pic of the Beolab 5 - I've never seen such a detailed interior shot/cutaway like that before, despite searching for one.
As a newcomer to B&O, and a very proud owner of a new pair of Beolab 9's - I'd love an interior shot/cutaway of them as well if there was one available - I've not managed to find anything - if you know of something could you perchance either post a link or PM me perhaps?
Thanks so much for posting such a stunning pic of the Lab 5!
Kind regards
John...
I agree, amazing cutaway of the Beolab 5. Makes you realize just how small the enclosure is for the woofer. And how much power, how robust the driver must be, and how much signal processing is required to get the amount of deep bass out of such a small enclosure volume.
Years ago there was a product, I think it was sold by Marchand as both a kit and assembled unit, called the Bassis. It allowed you to "force" the acoustic parameters of a driver in a box to be what you wanted, that is to force a driver to behave as if the box were much larger and greatly extend the bass cutoff and pick the Q of the system. If, and it was a big if, the driver you had could handle the power and excursion required to do that. Obviously simpler if you can choose the physical characteristics of the driver and have it built to your specification. I think one of the first applications of such an approach was the Carver Amazing Subwoofer, which was a 1 foot cube with a very robust driver, reminds me a lot in implementation and design as the Beolab 2.

My 2nd B&O purchase was the stackable B&O 5000s in 1985/1986 including some CX100s.
I subsequently bought two more stackable 5000s in the decade of 2000.
And I gave one to my eldest son - together with the CX100s.
Here is a picture of that system - playing a Jack Johnson CD - to the next generation (hopefully) of B&O connoisseurs: our first grandchild (2 weeks old).
Welcome,elot64 ! The Beocord 9000 is a pretty neat deck. The Beocenter 7000-series must be the best all-in-one units from B&O; ampfier and tuner is very similar to that of a Beomaster 6000, the cassette part is a Beocord 8000 transport and electronics, the turntable is a Beogram 1700. I had a 7007 once. Sold it and I had to buy another straight away. Your second picture reminds me of an authentic B&O catalogue photo!
Beolab 9's John?!
Nice work.
What are your initial thoughts?

asou: Beolab 9's John?! Nice work. What are your initial thoughts?
Hey, Asou!
Nice to see you and may I wish you and yours all the very best for 2013! - and also welcome to BeoWorld!
I still lust after 5's, however after a lot of thought I decided against the pre-owned route, and with the expense of a car and the V1-40 last year, decided that to jump to a new pair of Lab 5's was just a bit of a bridge to far re budget, so as against just ongoing 'waiting' and after mulling over thoughts of B&W 803D's, and the *cough* ADM40's, had a excellent audition accompanied by impeccable service at my local B&O dealer, for around 3 hours of my own music and video clips, and decided then and there to go with a new pair of Beolab 9's in black. They arrived on the 17th December, so an early Xmas present for me!
I wrote at some length about my initial thoughts etc here, including some links to pictures: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/3915/34912.aspx#34912
I'm still getting used to them, and need to do some fine tuning perhaps on the V1-40 as regards the processor/pre-amp side of things re settings, but can state unequivocally that on performance grounds they're easily the best speakers I've ever owned, and amongst the best I've ever heard, and as a total entertainment package, i.e. performance, aesthetics, quality, and a fiddle and fuss free system, I wish I'd make the move 20+ years ago instead of getting sidetracked with Naim audio and the slippery slope into audiophool sillyness.
The Bass is prodigious on organ and movie L.F.E - to the point where I had some slight alarm on a movie with very strong L.F.E. - only because the bass is akin to what I've heard on really top flight subs such as a Velodyne DD15", and not a HiFi speaker and I was fearful of damage to the driver!
Consequently, I gave in to some paranoid audiophile concerns, and started a discussion about the ABL circuitry and how it protects the drivers in B&O speakers.
Dr. Geoff Martin kindly made a rather wonderful post illustrating the lengths that B&O go to in terms of both the tuning and amazingly in-depth development of their speakers - well worth a read - here is a link to the thread: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/4563.aspx
Needless to say, as a fellow B&O owner, who also experienced some rather unfair and unpleasant B&O put downs IMV across on that 'other' forum, I think you will find the post that Geoff Martin made, highly illuminating to say the least, at what one could fairly call the difference in design philosophy and utter engineering refinement between B&O products and those from you know who! - along with just about anything one could think of from the passive speaker, separates components arena.
The Beolab 9's aren't inexpensive, but IMHO they are worth every cent that I paid as someone seriously interested in fine music, movies, and who wants a top flight audio solution with as little audiophile angst as possible to accompany the ownership experience.
The honeymoon period with them is over, more or less, but I'm still thrilled to bits every time I look at them, admire them, and listen to them.
In short, bar Lab 5's, I seriously could not be happier with them, (indeed, they remind me of smaller scale Lab 5's in truth re the sound) and I am SO glad I didn't choose something else that some people, in some quarters would argue to be 'better' and for less money; I wanted an Mercedes/BMW/Audi buying/performance/ownership experience, and I got it.
A brand X might do a similar job perhaps, but overall, all things considered, I don't see myself deviating from the B&O path in the short, medium or long term future - the ownership satisfaction is amongst the highest I've ever experienced for anything, be it HiFi or cars etc.
Anyway I don't want to go too off topic re a picture thread - but great to see you and welcome again to the Beoworld forums!
Congrats Evan on the new kit !
Evan:Yes, Congrats Ed! Name??
The family used to call my son "little Edward" ... until he grew to be some 6" taller than me
His son's first name is "Edward" making him the 6th in a row, but everyone seems to be calling him by his second name - probably sensible since at some stage there would be three of us saying "yes?" whenever our first name is rung out
