Now it turns out that even the BeoSound Essence 2 is suffering from B&O software problems.
I have a BeoSound Essence 2 which is paired to a Essence remote (wheely).
Every few days suddenly the Essence does not respond anymore to the remote.
In the set-up app it still says the remote is paired.
The only remedy is to de-pair, then power cycle the Essence, then pair again.
Problem has been acknowledged by BeoCare.
Yet another software problem which takes ages to solve and totally destroys the value of the system.

I have had this issue for as long as I had my essence 2. Funny thing is it only happens to the table remote and not the wall remote. The last time it happened, a couple of days ago, the volume worked but none of the button presses would work. Strange! It does come back if I unplug the essence wait a bit and then plug it back in. I do one of the other to solve the problem depending on what I think is easier at the time.
I have also reported this to BeoCare quite a while ago!
I am having similar issues, it seems it takes a lot of time to connect, and adjustments do not get executed or with much delay. Was thinking it might be the battery but there should still be some time left on it and when woken up and initial connection is made it will work OK for a bit
Duels:When you say acknowledged by beocare do you mean they have agreed it's a software problem or acknowledged receipt of your report?
I can report the same problem, the setup however is a Beoplay A9 and the Essence remote (table version).
It all worked well until about the beginning of February and then started to loose the connection exactly as described before.
Only de-pairing and rebooting the A9 helps. Then it lasts for a few hours and needs to be done again. Rather annoying ....
I have the same problem with A6 and Essence Remote "wheelie". Same fix, too; de-pair, power cycle the A6 and then re-pair. Really annoying. Google Cast also "falls off" for no apparent reason. When it works, it's great.
Happened to me again yesterday morning - couldn't control anything with the Essence Remote. Perhaps due to an update? Makes no sense to me how fundamental functionality of products is lost every now and then. Even if it was due to a SW update. Bells and whistles functions, I can understand, but bluetooth pairing - something so integral to the function of a product? I don't get it.
When it happened yesterday, I just switched the system to standby using my iPhone and walked away frustrated. It really kills the mood to have to perform these "maintenance" activities on something that's billed as a "light switch" for music. ARGH.
Same exact issue here with my BeoSound 35 and a Table Essence Remote and my A9 with Essence wall remote. The connection usually lasts a day or two max then nothing. I have to go thru the same remove, power cycle, add remote workflow to get it to work again. Very frustrating. I'm really starting to question the QA at B&O. Test for BT connectivity and reliability with their own products should have been tested thoroughly before releasing.
Pathetic actually.
PLEASE B&O get help on the software front. You have to master this or the company won't survive (and my whole house investment in B&O will be worthless).
If anyone is reading this at B&O pass this up the chain of command. The software HAS to work. No excuses.
Ha! I just repaired my Essence remote to my BS35 3 hours ago and already it's lost the BT connection.
Ridiculous
After ~4 months of wheelie ownership, this just happened to me . I have not yet fixed it because my Essence is kind of a pain to reach. Sigh... I was really liking it up until now (had my Essence without remote for ~1 year - it was amazing - to me at least - how much more I used it once I got the remote).

I'm also experiencing the same problem but have discovered that when I eventually got the remote to reconnect after resetting everything several times I then discovered that it was no longer possible to connect anything else via Bluetooth so my iPod for example.
I sent an email to B&O and they acknowledged there was a problem with the Bluetooth remote but they didn't acknowledge at all my main query that I could no longer connect any Bluetooth device. Then which I found incredibly cheeky suggested I buy the IR receiver from them as a workaround as they didn't know how long it will take to fix the problem..
If anyone at B&O is reading this I find incredible that in one hand you can design and make great looking and sounding products yet you appear to be completely incompetent when it comes to software updates, system stability and having a decent app which would be comparable to other cheaper brands like Sonos. I would also suggest you more rigorously test software updates before they are released and have the ability to rerelease a previous version if the update appears to have more problems than its predecessor.
On a side note about the app does anybody know how you can use the BeoMusic App on a iPad and have the music play past the current track when you start using the iPad for something else like surfing the net etc, all that seems to happen for me as I get the music started and then I start using the iPad for something else and it stops playing at the end of the track.
I'm seriously considering selling the essence and buying something else :-( any recommendations
Sorry for the negative rant but I'm feeling pretty frustrated, as the music stopped again.
Michael:Same exact issue here with my BeoSound 35 and a Table Essence Remote.
+1
My table wheely (SN.: 23839313) is a first generation one. It worked flawlessly for months with my BS Essence mk1, then flawlessly for months with my BL5 (IR mode).
This morning I paired it with my BS35 for the first time. This afternoon, the pairing is lost...

Apologies for not responding earlier..
I have a little update, with a bit of trial and error I discovered that if you first use your iPod, iPhone etc and you go to the Bluetooth settings and remove and forget the Essence Mk2 from all of your devices first and then do a full reset of the Essence. now reconnect the remote and your other Bluetooth devices this seems to have cleared the problem for me and has been stable the last five of six days.
This only worked when I fully removed and forgot my Bluetooth connection from the devices first!!!!
I don’t want to count my chickens but this seems to have worked for me…. for now.
Hope this makes sense and helps
All the best..
Also Just to add, when I pushed Beocare with the problems I had and that I find it unacceptable that they would acknowledge a software fault but, say they had no timeframe for the solution. They washed their hands of it and said I should talk to my local dealer for further support.
There may be something to this. I rarely interact with my Essence via Bluetooth, and I rarely lose the connection from my remote (once in a few months of ownership). I do recall I may have been used bluetooth from my wife's iPhone around the same time as my remote lost contact. I will try to keep this in mind going forward.
I am using Spotify connect, I noticed that they chaged how it is behaving, i.e. volume can be controlled via the phone buttons.
Maybe that has to do with it but then again on my A6 with another remote it works without problem and even central power off using the remote paired to the essence when the a6 is playing stopped working
I have heard from my dealer that software 1.13 has been pulled as it actually makes the bluetooth problem worse.
They are going to release 1.14 before the end of May that should make things more stable. I've had these 2 years and they've never worked properly! I guarantee the day the software that works is release the essence mark 3 will arrive!

jk1002: I am using Spotify connect, I noticed that they chaged how it is behaving, i.e. volume can be controlled via the phone buttons.
I've used Spotify connect for as long as it has been supported on the Essence and it has always allowed the volume to be controlled via the phone buttons. This how I lived without the "wheelie" for almost year.
So essence upgraded the sftware to 1.14 and remote started working again but sporadic and not as it is supposed to be working .... it seems it needs time to wake up
Giving that the remote is a key feature for the essence and it works perfect on a6 its absolutely not acceptable what is happening here ....
I have exactly the same experience. Very frustrating. I have past on the feedback to my dealer - have you heard anything from your side?
Best
I'm having the same issue - several essence MK2's and all have 'lost' their remotes. Repairing, etc, seems to have no impact.
Any suggestions?
Have you tried a factory reset for both the Essence and the Remote and start over, that seems to be the brute force solution when all else fails.

This has happened to me only once, and I think it was after streaming Bluetooth from my wife's iPhone (usually use Spotify). Resetting the Essence fixed it, and (touch wood) it hasn't happened since.
The Essence is (or will be announced) to be EoL, replaced by Beosound Core which is positive. So hopefully a trade-in for this defective product can be arranged?

B&O don't feel the Essence is defective at all, actually. I do hope, however, that once the Core is launched, perhaps there will be deals / trade in offers. I'm curious if there's a Next Gen Moment in the works? I've given up on thinking B&O will offer an actual sound system with local storage any longer.
Anyone know a release date for the core ?
very keen to start using the essence remotes in my house, but dont want to buy an Essence, given all probs everyone having, would rather wait for the core.
i presume release date is tied in with the BeoSound Shape, as that uses the core ?
Sadly, it's not just the Essence that has the connectivity problems with the remote. There are also the same issues with the BeoSound 1 and the BeoPlay A6 (and probably other products). BeoCare has acknowledged the problem. So has my dealer. My dealer has suggested holding off on buying any more Essence Remotes until after the launch of the Shape. He said that it would be a horrible embarrassment for B&O (like it isn't already??) if they can't get the remote issues sorted for when the Shape is launched. While my dealer hasn't confirmed that there would be a hardware revision of the remote, I for one am waiting JUST IN CASE there is. With the few Essence Remotes that I currently have, I could put them into IR mode and repurpose them to use with my B&O IR products.
Have tried resetting the lot and starting again and while one essence and remote did play happy for a day, it's back to normal now :(
The pucks are so beautiful and such an elegant UI solution that it seems insane that B&O can't get the software working! :(
Hi guys just a little bit of an update on this topic
I recently emailed BeoCare one final time,
1 To explain how disappointed I’ve been with the Essence stability and now the Bluetooth issue, also how poor it is to have a major software problem like the Bluetooth problem and them taking such a long time to resolve it.
2 Now they accept there is an issue with the Essence is there any truth to the rumour, Essence owners would be given some kind of trading for the Beosound Core.
I finished with, I’d be very unlikely to purchase any more B&O technical products based on repeated software issues. Which is a shame as I would love to add more products to my network, like the BeoSound 1 and 2 but I have no faith in them working properly all the time.
Surprisingly a week or so later I had a phone call from a technical support guy in Sydney B&O explaining he was currently testing a software update for the Essence specifically to fix the Bluetooth issue, and had confidence it was a robust fit.
He explained it will take a little while for final approval from HQ but should be rolled out sometime in September.
He didn’t know anything about the BeoSound Core or if they were even going to offer it as a stand-alone product.
I also explained I have issues connecting any Bluetooth device which was my main issue months ago and it sounds like I may have a faulty unit, which might be out of warranty because it’s taken so long to figure Bluetooth issue out .. LOL

Given the serial numbers, did they somehow push you an advance version of the software?
