Hello!

i suddenly became Beo owner at last! Getting my some old 5000/5500 system parts

but with the price i payd of course with some issiues.

Beomaster 5000 with MCP5000 works fine exept the buttons on the flip down panel on the beomaster.

found something about a broken flat cable to the panel, seems correct or?

Beocord 5500 seems to work ok some minor issiues with adjusting the cover when the tray get stuck.

And when fast forward or reverse it stops, found something about replacing belts, seems correct or?

Beogram cd 5500 tray works fine, it starts up spinns a few seconds and then stops, cant find CD.

Found something about a Blue Philips? is that some noticable capasitor or what?

Boomaster 5500 with Beolink 1000, seems to be in full working order, but the link 1000 is a bit booring so for now it just sits there.

does my conclutions seem ok?

if so i just have to get some parts and spot how and where to put them. ;-)

Common faults - the flat cable seems endemic on the BM5000. Dillen on site will get you drive belts for the Beocord - the CD probably needs a capacitor replacing - depends how good you are at soldering - see here

The BM5500 is an interesting device - as with a lot of B&O, the first in a range is often the best as the later ones have features removed. The 5500 however gets to use the Beolink 1000 - maybe a little boring but uses the same codes as all the later equipment which is a huge advantage over the 5000. It also has lots of connections which the later 6500 and 7000 lack so I think it is probably the most useful. The 5000 probably sounds better but telling amplifiers apart is tricky really.

Welcome to Beoworld.

thanks for the reply!

well im not completly lost with soldering, i think a flat cable and some capasitors can be handled.

If i just find the parts and may way to them.

way way back ill actually went to school intended to work with radio repairs. and these old school aparatus is quite nicely free of surface soldering;-) now i just have to find outif i got the CDM2 or 4

So an update! i got some parts from Dillen, Thank you!

But only success i parts, the CD works nicely!!

But the cassette deck wont fast forward or reverse. Well as i found out i got the deck with only 1 belt, the belt seems to be only for normal play. And there is a different motor without belt that takes care of the fast forward and reverse. normal play works fine and shifting sides also.

if i fake a cassette and press the little tabs and then push fast forward or reverse that engine starts upp and seems to spin alright for a while until it finds out the other wheels not spinning and stops. i tried to lubrikate gently that cogs and axels for that engine and mecanics. but it makes no difference.

is thar engine itselfe worn out so it doesnt got any umph or what? any ideas?

YES!!

i have changed the flat cable to the front hatch of the Beomaster 5000, now everything works including the opening function.

cleand up the Beolink 1000 after battary leak, can now controle the fully functioning Beomaster 5500.

chaged the capasitors and traybelt on the Beogram cd 5500 now that smooth and correct and reads burned CD's

and finally after a mechanical cleaning and lubrication and new drive belt the Beocord 5500 also not only pay it also fast forward/reverse and finds next or previous tracs.

now i only need a MCP 5500 and a Beogram LP 5500...
