ARCHIVED FORUM -- March 2012 to February 2022READ ONLY FORUM
This is the second Archived Forum which was active between 1st March 2012 and 23rd February 2022
First: I am biased, because I joined 2012.
Therefore my biased proposal:
Besides Lee: 4 seeded who keep this forum alive: (moderators ...)
Group of 10: Gold and silver members
Group of 10: The rest (gold and silver included) who are members for more than a set time.
Because I am biased, I don't like to exclude the lucky and happy people of 2007 and 2012.
What about the best contributers in this forum? Well I don't count me among the 24 best in this forum. Yet another case of bias on my side.
The last draw of 2012 was a very lucky one, because the chosen bunch of BeoWorlders was a marvellous group. It was the result of a draw out of all members who sent an email notifying their interest in that trip.
Best of luck in organising it!
I didn't realise it went beyond what the B&O Factory tour entailed, that's truly wonderful of everyone at 'the farm' to extend that honour to you!
But just to be clear..... I am totally with Soren on this. I'd love to be a part of an official trip. But If not on the official trip lets meet up there anyway. A few beers with a few like minded folk. What in this world could be better?

I would love to be one of the lucky ones (must update my membership) but if not, I will go there anyway, and if more will join maybe Frede will give a look see and there are more than B&O around Struer
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
I'd better start paying my dues - upgrade my membership to Gold, then ;-)

There is a tv - and there is a BV
I am also in agreement with Duels and Soren and this would be how I enviasge my personal trip playing out. I have been meaning to visit Struer to go to B&O for many years now but never got round to it for different reasons.
Lee has a limit of 24 places for the reasons given, which is completely understandable. However, I do not believe this should in any way restrict anyone - regardless of membership 'status' or contribution from going and organising their own separate trip but coinciding it with the formal Beoworld trip allowing everyone the opportunity to meet socially. I would be very happy to organise this separate trip personally and if any other member would like to do it with me then great, just let me know and we can get on with it. We can go as enthusiasts without having to be ambassadors of Beoworld.
I believe that everyone who has a desire to go should do so and of course there is a lot of pleasure in wanting to naturally bond with others from this site who share the same interests and passion. Beoworld has brought us all together over the years but we should be mindful of not letting it also 'split' people into groups that are either 'good enough' or 'not good enough' to be part of something, that's ridiculous, egotistical and old school thinking. Everyone should be treated equally and fairly. If people want to pay and contribute that is their choice and we should not assume people do not contribute if they don't pay as no person knows another person's individual circumstances or situation.
Simon.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
BAND'OH!:I am also in agreement with Duels and Soren and this would be how I enviasge my personal trip playing out. I have been meaning to visit Struer to go to B&O for many years now but never got round to it for different reasons.
Just the museum is a mekka for vintage enthusiast, I was there last year, and I think the B&O people had started to build a more modern addition to the exhibition.
Who will be selected to the official group is up to Lee and his team, so until we get to that there is not much we can do.
It is more than a year away a lot can happen in between so let us leave it there until we have some dates and results.
As for Simon remarks about us being equally treated, on the daily forum we are equal, there are no differences between any member group, everybody needs help once in a while and those who can are providing it, Gold or Bronze member. And that is, as far as I know, one of the only forums where that is possible, comes to that the always good tone on the forum. So whatever Lee and the team comes up with it will be something that we deserves.
Of course there should be considerations for members with the longest travel distance, so Jeff and I should be in the chosen group
I don't think that the 24 choosen people will have much time to meet others Beoworlders coming to Struer without the Beoworld/B&O invitation, because B&O offers a full day program if I remember correct from 2007. So I don't know if it will make sense to travel a long way just to meet people for only one or two hours.
If it comes to a draw, especially with the Beoworld robot, my chances go down to zero. I never won anything, regardless here on Beoworld or anywhere else.

Soren, have you been to the first floor of the museum, where an old man builds up a model railway. I have been there last year in september and talked to him alot about B&O, Struer and his very good german speech. This itself was worth the trip from Sondervig to Struer

B&O product history since 1991: Ridiculously long to list in a signature.
Well what can I say????
These visits are one of the very best things about B&O, ever!
Do everything you can to get on it!
And from vague memory I seem to think a draw was held from those members that showed they wanted to take part in the (busy) visit.

I was there i May on a Friday, only visitor, the room with the railway was being rearranged and only workers there, I used about 2 hours in the museum, mostly downstairs, one of the nice ladies brought me water to drink (or she was checking that I didnt steal anything). She told me that typical visitors ran through the museum in 1/2 an hour, but vintage collectors like me stayed longer, she was also aware of the Beoworld site.

Funny, the same happened when I was there with my wife and my son. We three were the only visitors. One of the ladies came around to ask if everything is ok and If we want to have coffee for us and water for our little son. We've been there about 2 hours or more too. It Takes time to see and photograph everything you get to see.
Seems that there aren't much visitors going to the museum.
Hi everyone,
I guess the (potential) Spring 2018 trip to Struer could already be over-subscribed, judging by the number of "count me in"s in this thread so far Am I too late to add another one to the list?
As I'm now 30 years into my B&O addiction, Struer is heaven on earth for me.... Or as my wife so tactfully said "Why on earth would I want to go to the B&O Museum? I LIVE in a B&O museum!"
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

I had a very similar experience. We spent two hours or more in the museum and the woman on the desk was really friendly and was asking what had brought us to Struer as she said they don't get many visitors from the UK.
I really liked the fact that you can interact with many of B&O items on display - the opposite of many museums where everything is locked away in cabinets.
I bought a few books in the gift shop and I remember the food and cakes in the cafe being particularly delicious too

I might have to invest in one of these to get across the North Sea then
Delighted to hear that the trip is on - I have been feted royally by B&O in the past so would prefer that someone else has the chance so will not be putting my name forward. I would advise that this will be a superb trip though and the staff at Struer are all friendly and extremely welcoming. The museum is fantastic and if at all possible, meeting Frede would be the icing on the cake. I would hope that some of the well known names will go - Martin would be a wonderful addition and deserves another trip simply for the huge amount of work that he does moderating the site and helping numerous members.
Lee will be a brilliant organiser and leader and his charisma seems to get B&O to push the boat out at every occasion.
Peter
I would like to come to Struer, too!

Ferries are acceptable public transport
I would love to go too ,imay be able to get the group a cheap rate to charter plane!!!
I was one of the fortunate ones to go on the 2007 trip had a wonderful time and whilst I would love to go again,
I am not going to put my name in the draw as I feel it would be unfair to block the chance for someone who has not been
So enjoy will still be envious lol

Duels:I read that as Ferraris.
Sorry, but Ferraris are not B&O style. Maybe you should save some space on the ferries for Rolls Royce and Bentley.
my Renault fits in every corner

in that case, dear StKong, i would enjoy to be your co-pilot on that last 120 km to Struer 😇

my anticipation increases 👍
and, Peter, where's that lovely place? really beautiful!
TWG: Sorry, but Ferraris are not B&O style. Maybe you should save some space on the ferries for Rolls Royce and Bentley.
Geeze... now I feel bad about driving my old Honda Civic to work every day... Then again, I don't have to take a ferry, so maybe that takes the curse off it...
Cheers
-geoff
How great that the trip is on. Wish I could make it to meet you all -- even though I would most likely not have been in the select 30. I should start bicycling now if I'm to make it to Denmark by next Spring, though.

Nonsense, Geoff! No need to feel bad. Honda makes very good cars (my dad owns one, too), great robots (Asimo) and even very nice private jets.I see that as another positive character trait: You don't brag and that's very good! Let's hope we finally meet in 2018 :-)@StKong: Okay, that old Ferarri is indeed beautiful! Looks like an old Aston Martin out of a James Bond movie.I think we have to organise a few more meals and drinks for StKong: Who knows how often he has to drive the 120km from the ferry to Struer because of some car fanatic Beoworld members.
