Hi!

My Samsung TV is Bluetooth enabled via an original Samsung bluetooth Dongle. I wonder if the Beoremote would be able to control it for daily use with that dongle.

I can still have the original Samsung remote hidden for special functions.

I need to turn on/off, channel selection, channel number, text TV and HDMI input as per now.

The sound is via optical to my Beomaster so the volume would still have to be controlled on there, i don't know if that is possible? To make the volume part of the remote go to one (Beo4) device and the others go to the BT device (TV)

I hope you understand what i mean? :)

Not possible, but you can do it with a Beo5/Beo6 :)

I dont think you are right.

Another thread in here states that you can control an Android phone with it. That must mean it supports some sort og AVRCP protocol.

I just wonder which version = how much control. For basic daily operation i would buy Beoremote One BT for my Samsung TVs in a heartbeat :)

Then prove me wrong, especially the part with configuring the One to control volumen on the B&O stuff, and the other buttons to the Samsung.

I still say it is not possible. You might be lucky to get simple random functions working, but not the control you would like.

Otherwise I will also buy the One to control my Samsung TV and B&O audio instead of my Beo6 that does it right now :)

Any updates on this topic? Is a BR ONE BT able to control non-B&O devices over BT, like a mac?

you can pair the BR One BT with an iPhone and iPad, that much I know......

Though its.a strange use case - why would anyone want to do it.

I just paired it with my Mac - it works, but only in a very basic way. Volume up / down, skip track. Pause didn't work - Play button acts as both Play  / Pause.

Great! Good to know.

I actually don't need much more than these basic functions. My (older) IR mac remote only has the up/down left/right, and a center, menu and play/pause button anyway. That's enough for controlling kodi, context menus can be called through a long press. (But that may be a different story with a bluetooth remote..)

So the mac then appears in the menu on the screen of the remote?

Is it able to directly control other IR devices (without PUC)? I checked the manual but it doesn't describe any 'learning' process for other devices.

That's correct.

Bang & Olufsen remotes operate at 455 kHz, which is not what most manufacturers use. Besides that, the remote is programmed with Beo4 command codes and doesn't learn other remotes, because controlling non-B&O devices is expected to be handled through the PUC system.

The control is very basic - yes the Mac will appear as the selected device on the BR One screen, but that's about it.

I have no idea whether it can control other non PUV IR devices, as I don't have any.

The control functions that you describe with your older IR Mac remote - I don't think you'll be able to get all of these using the BR One.

Paired with my MacBook Pro, yes the volume up/down, skip tracks, Play Pause work....but the up/down/left/right navigation arrows do nothing and as far as I can see, nor do any of the other buttons on the BR One.

If you have a BR One BT, have a play - if you don't, I wouldn't waste the money on an expensive remote, from which you can do very little.

My humble opinion anyway.

Maybe you would consider a modified Beo4 that will do exactly what you expect: advanced control on Samsung TV (including, menu, EPG, source selection, tools, etc…) AND full control over Apple device (Mac or Atv) PLUS usual control on whatever else B&O equipment (Audio, Lights,…)

I personally rather the Beo4 design over the Beoremote One but it's a matter of tastes. And you can find good ones for cheap those days. The mod costs around 150€.

Right! I actually knew this but overlooked it.

So no other IR devices to be controlled, that's a bummer.

If the mac recognizes it though, and it effectively sends signals for the other buttons over BT, then it is probably possible to build a mapping from signals to commands with some third party software and a little tech knowledge.
With simple out-of-the-box pairing, it probably only uses effective commands for this limited subset of buttons. I did this once (years ago) with an IR remote and that worked reasonably well.

Given the limited IR functionality for non B&O stuff, I won't go out and buy an expensive piece of aluminium to end up with still a second remote on the table..

Thanks for your input, though! I very much appreciate it.

Back on topic of the opening post: disregarding the combined beomaster use, the BR1BT would thus probably be able to control the samsung over BT, be it in a limited way? Anyone ever tested that?

Have you considered using a modified Beo4? It will fully control your Mac and extensively control any Samsung TV (over IR thought) while keeping original control on regular B&O audio devices.

Interesting idea on the Beo4.

Is that a conversion to a specific brand, or is it mainly a hardware thing s.t. it can send 'regular' IR signals, and can you then use it with 'any' other device? Is it easy to change the devices in the list menu?

Would you have a pointer to such a conversion supplier?

Sorry for the double posting. Didn't see the first one appear after writing it!

Basically the beo4 will work as original for all devices appart from the TV which will control a specific brand TV (phillips, samsung or whatever) plus control any Apple device such as Apple TV or Mac which will be assigned to an external device button on the remote like DVD, DSAT…

As far as i know the name list on the remote can't be edited.

It's a little PCB you need to install into the remote or you can order an already modified beo4 corresponding to your TV brand.

As written, the solutions from Oneremote are known for ages.

But what if you (also) want to control newer BT-based B&O devices with thatt same remote control?

Hmm, the board is thus limited to a specific brand, but this may not be a big problem as I don't plan on changing any of the hardware anytime soon.

I do like the Beo4, but the BR1BT is a much younger looking product and appeals more to me.

The system may look a bit dated, not sure if the loewe transformation would still be able to control a modern day Bild 7 and its motorized stand. On the other hand, the Loewe remote is not that bad either, and is able to control other stuff as well. (still deciding on which tv to get, I really like the Bild 7, but all I really want to use it for is a display for some mediacenter application (either on a mac or an apple TV 4K), the same screen can be found at a much lower price, however sacrificing the motorized magic... First world problems...)
