hey everyone, i'm joel.
i recently purchased a beomaster 2400 and beovox s75 speakers to go along with my rx2 turntable.
my question lies in the sound. i guess i expected much better/deeper/bigger/more complex sound when playing vinyl, but it's coming out pretty thin! i feel like the bass needs to be adjusted pretty high when playing vinyl to get any depth out of it, and volume set a good amount higher also. that being said the radio/tape inputs sound amazing and totally full/complex/deep. it's almost as if there needs to be a secondary pre-amp or something. it's definitely amplified though and still sounds ok, so i don't think the pre-amp in the receiver is bad....just wondering if this is normal?
thanks so much!
Agree with Peter - it should sound as good if not better than FM or other sources. Check the cartridge or borrow a turntable and try that?
S75's are brilliant - I had a pair once and they were very good - also the 2400 has good performance so looking like the problem is with the cartridge - also check the connections at the back from the turntable to receiver in case the din plug isn't in properly or something.
thank you both!
the cartridge looks perfect, but i guess im not sure what i'd be looking for. just appears in great shape. my next test then will be to borrow a turn table from a friend and see how it sounds. i do have an external pre-amp, maybe i'll plug that through the tape input and see what happens. do you think it's possible it would have something to do with the din to rca adapter? feel like i spent up to get a nice one, but i know adapters can suck
good to know it's not normal and should sound as good as the fm sources! that will make me look further into it! thanks and i'll keep you guys posted what i find
My original system was a Beogram 1902, Beomaster 2400 and S75s (after a few months!) You should have plenty of bass. The fact that the tape and radio are fine suggests a problem with the cartridge or the RIAA in the 2400. I suggest the former is more likely. You could do with trying another turntable or receiver in the system. Where do you live as if another member close by we might be able to provide a comparator.
