good morning
congrats for this forum, looks very promessing.
i plan to add a dvd player to my beosystem. if i buy the beocenter 2 dvd, do i need to buy this with the socket unit or can i connect the beocenter 2 dvd directly with the beocenter?
thanks for helping me on this
Welcome to BeoWorld.
The BeoCenter 2 requires the socket unit as the socket unit provides all of the connections. The only connection from the head unit of the BeoCenter 2 is a connection to the socket unit.
While the BeoCenter 2 is a beautiful player, I think you'll be quite disappointed with the video quality. Even for just DVD playback, current blu-ray players provide a much better video, upconverting and scaling the video from DVDs to a much nicer picture than the BeoCenter 2 can provide.
Thank you for this Jef. Do I understand you correctly that the Beocenter 2's quality for watching DVD is no better than what B&O DVD2 provides?
kind regards,
Hi beobelg,
Welcome to Beoworld! Yes, the video output of the Beocenter 2 DVD is standard definition via composite video, so possibly slightly lower picture quality than B&O's DVD 2 which I think from memory had component (RGB) output, again at standard definition.
Beocenter 2 is best viewed as an elegant CD player and radio unit instead of as a DVD player. In audio use, it gives superb sound quality and the styling is unique and timeless.
A modern DVD/blu-ray player will give far better performance for video playback.
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.
