Hi guys,
The new brother, BEOPLAY P2 has been released! It is compact, yes, even smaller then BEOLAY A1. But the sound is incredible .
Enjoy now guys! Unboxing and first impression

Thanks for posting. Good video. Nice to see it next to the other speakers in your collection.
The blue color looks soooo nice!! Please B&O, release the A1 in that blue, too!!!
Double post ;-(

That's a really nice review/comparison.
One of the most important things about a small speakers like that, is how does it sound 'all around it', since you probably never would sit dead center in front of it.
Meaning the 360 degree effect.
We should focus on if a small speaker has a 'uniform' sound, when we are listening to it from different angles.
Looking forward to listening myself....
....once it is officially released in the shops ;-)
Yendys: It's a lot smaller than I thought. I imaged it sitting between A1 and A2. So for me I'll be getting an A1 now

Maybe it's just the impression I had from the comparison, but the P2 looks light (lighter than the A1). Ideal for taking on your travels. Will be interesting to see the colour options. Not sure that bright blue is for me.

Maybe it's just me, but spending £150 on a "stocking filler" for a kid would give them the wrong impression of life - I used to work hard, earn and save up when I was a kid! What's happened?

But only if the stockings are home knit.
Aussie Michael: A sense of entitlement has happened.People spend way more on stocking fillers unfortunately I used to get a track suit from K Mart for my Christmas present. That was the only time of the year you got new clothes or for your birthday.

No.
The "Sense" you are sensing is how governments of all countries and political tendencies have debauched their respective "Money" and turned it into a "currency" i.e. no stored value, and have subsequently stolen value from us by stealth.
What we used to call inflation, coupled with quantitative easing, and from a consumers point of view a great inflow of competitively based products from the effective opening of the far East has done this.
£100 in 2007 purchased the same as £133 today
£100 in 1997 purchased the same as £172 today
£100 in 1987 purchased the same as £270 today

So, what we experienced in the past may not be much differently than what younger people experience today in terms of what constitutes a stocking filler etc..

A few years ago, stocking fillers were a pack of cards, an orange and a few nuts! Not a handheld speaker. Things have only changed due to parents allowing kids to have higher expectations. Parents have to offer their kids a sense of monetary responsibility. Give a P2 as a "stocking filler" and they expect a MacBook Pro as their main present. They graduate from university, realise wages haven't risen with the inflation you mention above, and parents have to continue supporting them through their 20s as a result.
Back to the P2 - at least it's available in black. Anyone else with an opinion on the sound? We've not received a P2 in the office!

Agree 100%!
Back to the P2:Please Bang & Olufsen, give Moxxey the black version and me that great blue color on the A1 or/and A2. :-)

We can't write it up. We don't have anything for this product release, so far. I'll see if we can get on the case today!

Hello!
Thought I would throw my 50p in. I've had a good play with P2 and really like it. I didn't expect much for such a tiny unit and the pictures I saw before the release made it look a bit cheap if I'm honest. I'm not a big user of Bluetooth speakers but it surprised me, it's very nicely made and sounds excellent for it's tiny dimensions (I agree, the blue is awesome).
I'm sufficiently impressed....
My video is live now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2aaWGNq1D4 (I would have got a serious telling off if I was as early as the other chap!)
John
Nice video! Thanks.
I ordered mine in blue this morning... Just hope it will not be too much shiny blue as in the video it looks much more blue than in the press photos... (I was between the blue and the black).
Ok, it's in the office! Had a quick listen and our news piece is live if anyone wants a look: https://www.shortmotivation.com/2017/04/beoplay-launches-the-p2-portable-speaker/
Sounds impressive for the size, but I think I prefer the A1. P2 is certainly lighter and more compact, but the A1 is marginally better on balance. Decent though.
John:I'm sufficiently impressed....
And I'm impressed again by an excellent video from you in presenting this tiny speaker. Really enjoyed it!

Thank you.
If this is the new naming strategy (P for portable), I'm wondering why this one is called the P2? Is there an even smaller speaker on the way? Will the other existing speakers adopt the new naming scheme?

I know that, and it's part of why I'm wondering, are they leaving room for a P1 sometime down the road, since the number generally appears to be related to size, amount of features and price of the product.
Word gets out quickly - sold all initial stock by 2pm. Plenty more on order though...

elephant:Since your banner says "Dedicated to a lifestyle outside of the office, whether it’s at the beach, by the pool or training at the gym" ... and seeing I don't do any of those activities (I am discounting promenading ) does that mean the P2 is not for me?
No, it means you need to start doing those things. But you're in Australia. Surely you're always in a pair of shorts? The site is supposed to encourage people to get out of the office, get fit, get active and get in a pair of shorts (and, of course, enjoy the P2 at the same time).
I work on many sites, including PC Authority in Australia! We provide their tech reviews.
Calling it P2 leaves room for a P1.
Then P1 is free to use - even if they don't know by now, whether a smaller/cheaper one could become reality or not.
