I am doing a bit of pruning of the things I have stuck in cupboards never being used and came across this quite unusual beast. A Beocenter 3600. If any one wants to come and take it away, they can have it or its going to the tip. I dont want to pack it so come to Surrey near Reigate and you can have it for free.
Its not exactly perfect! The lid is not connected. It was when I first got it and I think I have the screws. The record deck doesnt work. The cartridge has no stylus. But I just plugged it in and connected some speakers and it sounds fine on the radio. The tape deck appears fine too.
Basically its spares or repair. Or a nice radio. But its FREE!!!! Quite unusual these, so it would be a shame to take it to the dump but thats what will happen.
Heres a couple of pics showing it in all its undusted, just dug out of a cupboard glory. Oh and the speakers do not come with it.
I've written on this forum more than once: never does this sort of thing happen on my side of the pond. Sigh. This is exactly the kind of piece I want to put in my daughters' room.
Delighted that Martin is getting this. These are rare beasts - I have only ever seen one in the flesh - Chris donated one to the aborted Beoworld museum. They seemed to be sold mainly in the UK and were the first all in one centre B&O sold with tape, record and tuner sections. They were also the first with the new MMCX000 cartridges and arm - my old dealer told me that the first consignment had the weight of the tone arm completely wrong and they had to visit all the buyers and change the weight on the arm. They were told to be discreet about this as they had not wanted to replace all the cartridges which would have been tracking rather heavily!

Definitely one of the nicest looking early Beocenters - great to hear it will be saved!
