Hello!
Problem: Beolab 4500 will not turn on when BM is turned on.
I have a Besosystem 4500 with Beolab 3000 that is working fine. I have now made an upgrade with a set of BL Pentas and BL 4500.
My problem is with the BL 4500. It's in standby mode, the red light is on, but no reaction when I turn on the Beomaster or CD.
I remember having a similar problem when I set up the system originally, I think I remember that i had to connect the speakers to the BM and the main supply in a certain order, but I don't remember how!
I have tried different combinations this time, connecting to main supply before or after connecting to the BM etc.
I did get a distorted sound from one of the speakers and I did get proper audio from the other on one occation. I have also got some poping sounds a few time. But now its just silent, no matter how I connect them.
What is the right startup sequence?
best regards
Carl
This time I tried
1. Connecting BL to each other
2. setting BL in standby mode
3. connecting BL to main supply
4. Connecting to BM
5. Setting BL in audio mode
6. turning on the BM (CD)
result: a high "poping" sound when I turned in on and a rather high humming sound.
Nothin on the display, just the red sand by light
Are you using fully wired MK2 power link cables, and are the display selector on the side of the amplifier set to AUDIO ?
There are no right connection sequence.. just connect everything when off power, and then turn on in the power as you like .

I am using the same cables that I used with BL 3000.
Depending in which order I do things (Connecting BL to BM, before or after connecting to the main etc), I get either 1. music on very low volume and no display info, 2. silence and standby /red light 3. a buzzing sound and standby / red light.
Its so odd
Have you tried: Disconnect both BM and BL from main. Then connect BL first to main - and then BM to main. Then it should Work. Otherwise, I would guess there's something wrong with the Beolabs...
