Hello,

Bit of a elementary question: I currently have a system that contains:

- Beolab 6000 pair

- Beolab 12-2 pair

- Beolab 11 Subwoofer

The 6000s and 12-2s are connected with DIN Powerlink splitters in Beolab11.

--Okay, but now I am upgrading BL6000s to a pair of BL9s.

1. Can I still use the same cable setup?

2. Soundwise, I know I would not need the BL11 anymore but aesthetically it could still hang around, so do the bass/low tones still flow through to BL9 normally so the subwoofing in the whole system is optimal?

Cheers again for all the help!

I am pretty sure you should drop the 11, soundwise.

First: what are your speaker setup connected to?

From your description it is a daisy-chained stereo setup - and the bas management is done in the BL11 (?)

Generally - there is absolutely no need for a BL11, when you have a pair of BL9's!!!

Why not use the BL11 and the BL6000's in a secondary setup!

Thanks, the setup is connected to Beosound Essence.

If you really want the 11 to stay, you should disable the internal bas management in order to let the unchanged signal go through to the BL9's.

See the User Guide for how to.

But Isn't it an expensive 'accessoire' to have hanging around for nothing.

Re-arranging cables is never nice, I know - and some times not even possible.

But a second Essence would be all that you need to expand your setup - that is, if you have the space for a second system.

Have fun with your BL9's - you'll love them ;-)

Thanks for your guidance, so it is ext. bass management that I should turn on in the BL11. I try it, I suppose no harm can happen, only the sound changes.. am I right?

The best thing to do would be to change the cabling a bit - and not have the signal for the BL9 going through the BL11. Can be done with an external y-splitter.

However, if you still want to benefit soundwise from the 11, you should use it for bas support of the 12's, which means keep it as now.

When you already are using splitters by the 11, it should be eady to do.

Please notice:

How good the result will be depends on the placement of the speakers and the distance between the 12's and the 11 --- and on the room in general, size, furniture, plants, curtains, carpet...

Personally I would not want to have the bas-supported 12's and the sub located too far from another.
