Hello, I recently purchased a Beomaster 5000 with the MCP. The MCP works great, but the controls on the beomaster don't operate. I was impressed with the sound and I bought another without a MCP for almost nothing, only assured that it powered up. I figured my MCP would control both. The 2nd beomaster 5000 works but seems to run hot and the MCP doesn't work that beomaster. The buttons on the unit do work, so I can control it that way. I then bought a terminal 5000 remote, unsure of it's functioning. The Green LED on the terminal remote, lights up when a button is pressed but nothing happens on either beomaster or the beocord 5000 that came with my first beomaster 5000.
Do the remotes have to be programmed for each unit. I've looked around a bit and can't find any info. If so, what's the proceedure? If not, I assume it's a transmission/ reception problem. Are these difficult to repair. My tech is exB&O certified and has been able to fix anything I've sent, Except my beomaster 8000! The seller of the terminal remote will give me a refund, but I'd rather take discount and get it fixed, if they are relatively inexpensive to fix. Thank in advance for any information

More likely he's talking about this, which is simply a hand-held version of the MCP 5000.
It should control both receivers - no programming is necessary. Take a look at the top thru a digital camera when the green light is flashing. You should be able to see the IR signal.
Yes that is what I'm talking about. If I understand correctly, Both my terminal 5000 remote and MCP should operate either of my Beomaster 5000's and beocord 5000 without any additional programing, fresh out of the box, as it were. So it looks like the 2nd beomaster IR sensors aren't working because it isn't receiving signals From the MCP which work with the first beomaster and beocord that it came with. The terminal remote probably need to be repaired because it won't operate either pieces that the MCP will. Please let me know if this is correct, thanks
Sounds correct. Keep in mind that the only component that the remote controls *directly* is the receiver. The receiver in turn sends commands to the other components in the system thru the interconnect cable. For the heck of it I'd check to see if the Terminal 5000 is putting out an IR signal by looking at it thru a camera. If the green light is flashing it should be.
Regarding the non-working buttons on the Beomaster, this is a common issue. The connection from the main PCB to the buttons is via a flat lead that is very thin and basically consists of conductive tracks sandwiched between two plastic sheets - this is necessary to allow for 'flex' when the panel is opened and closed.
Unfortunately, after years of use, the two sheets of plastic de-laminate and peel apart, breaking the conductive tracks and meaning that the button presses are no longer received by the PCB.
If you're handy with a soldering iron, you can replace this lead - I have found standard multiway ribbon cable as used on computer leads does the job well.

Beomaster 5000 uses unique codes.Terminal 5000 and Master Control Panel 5000 is what will work.
