When putting my hands in front of the glass doors they attempt to open, but instead I just hear a sound like their trying to open but something is stuck. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to inspect what's going on or is this an issue for a specialist repair centre? Also the CD player wont play, the CD turns but wont play. Thanks
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
and the motor rubber belt?
Can you slide the doors by hand?
If so, probably the belt is slipping or is broken, or the endstop on the frame has broken of (happens) which causes the drive mechanism to over rotate past the stop and can cause the doors not opening.
If the doors are not moving or are moving (by hand i mean) somewhat diagonally, changes are that the cable has come undone, or even broke.
The cable is plastic coated steel wire, normally it won't break but i have seen stranger things!
what you can check also is if the clips that hold the doors are all in the same position and are not moving independently from each other, if they don't probable cause will be the drive mechanism.
Good luck!
Thanks for the info. I found a broken belt after opening the unit. Now I need to figure out how to replace it without wrecking the unit, any suggestions?
Cheers
There is a rubber band which forms the initial drive from the motor.
Dillen will be able to supply a replacement together with instructions on how to fit it.

Hi,
the belt is a simple round belt, i do not have te specs, sorry.
to put the belt on you have to remove the wheel on which the steel cables run, it is possible to do so without removing those cables.
You have to take the circlip from the axle and pull the weel carefully of the axle, as soon as you have the space for it, put the belt on the axle and put the wheel back, after that you can treat the belt arround the pulleys.
good luck!
I just meassured the belt, its 2 mm thick and about 44 mm in diameter, so you can go shopping!
Original belts are still available (I also have replacement belts, but prefer genuine), as they have more tracking force.
I am having same problem with my Beosound 3200- humming sound, red stands light blinking but not responding to the buttons on front panel and the Beo 4. Do you have any pictures to help me solve this problem. Any assistance is immensely appreciated.

It may be worth checking first that the doors are not locked - see the foot of this page: https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=953
