Hi peeps,

This is more just a curiosity than anything else. I own a couple of the Beolit 15, and they sound incredible when paired in stereo. They are pretty much an instant party if I bring them along with the 240V mains leads. I love them.

When I read about the Beolit 17, naturally I was interested. However, I heard that the charger is only 5V and 3 amps. Assuming that is correct, That means 15W input to a speaker that has 2 x 35W amplifiers. No good if you want to run it at full capacity for any decent length of time.

I suppose my question is: is this true? I know that the new USB specification can handle up to 100W with the right cable and power supply.

Thanks

we got a customer how bought one of this beolit 17 and base on her experience, when she is using on full volume it is not lasting more than 1 hour. you think the battery is the problem?or is it normal since she is using it in full volume.

Cant speak for the 17 but my A2 manages no more than 90 minutes on 75% volume.

Is this when running on battery alone, or when plugged into the mains?

I'd expect that, then. At full load the amplifiers are going to be placing a big demand on the battery. Reducing the volume a little bit will have a decent effect on running time.

What I'm interested in is if the Beolit 17 can run at full volume continuously while charging. From what I've read about the charger, it doesn't sound like it's up to the task.

I know by now you have already got the answer. But for the future readers I am providing the answer. I fully agree with you that at full volume, the Beolit 17 will be out of juice 1 less than an hour...  It advertises upto 24 hours :-)   But in my office desk I keep playing it at a very low volume,...say about 20% ,  not to disturb other colleagues... at that volume it lasts easily 20 + hours.  So if you think you can  have a blast at the party with your friends, dont expect Beolit 17 to cooperate :-)

Unlike a mobile phone, If you plugged in the power cable, when the battery is fully down, the speaker will not wake up to full blast! When the red light blinks, indicating low battery, the volume automatically will be down to about 15% . you need to charge the speaker  for a good 30 mins  before it will start playing again in full volume.  So best option is to plug in the power cable even if you have the speaker fully charged and then keep playing ... it might sustain you some 2-3 hrs at full volume.

Hope this answers your /others' questions in similar line.

best wishes

Dinesh
