I think it looks brilliant with the fabric covers. Softens it. The more photos I see the more I like it. I missed a preview on Saturday night at night dealer as I was at a wedding. I'm going to pop in tonight and order one today or tomorrow. Unless it's hideous in the flesh!!

I'd read on here somewhere that it might work as a standalone sound system without turning on the screen which is love but I'm thinking that ain't going to be the case.

NO WAY! That's a B&O signature!! The Lg pointer is clumsy I find.

I was going to say the same thing - I think the black fret will blend in better with the black glass beneath it. Aluminum stands out too much.

The black fret would certainly be more subtle. The aluminium does make a statement and I personally like it. But it would very much depend on room/environment. Ive been told it costs £1000 however. My dealer said that the aluminium fret is only available with the 65 at launch. The 55 only gets the aluminium fret in January. He's getting his 55 with red cloth which will be interesting.

Some combinations work really well. Glad to see it replacing the Avant, which design was pretty boring.

It looks decent forward-facing on the stand....but awful on the wall, especially from the side, like it would appear in my living room.

Thanks for letting us know of the price. Sadly, we seem to going round in circles. £10000 for a TV in this day and age. Even the big companies like Sony, LG and Panasonic are struggling to make money yet B&O have the audacity yet again to try and flog TVs costing as much as a car. B&O used to sell TVs for 2-3 times what you could buy on the high street and now the gap between the high street and what B&O is got ludicrously big. If they think footballers and Russian oligarchs will buy this by the bucket load all the best but they won't. They should be refocusing on selling cheaper TVs that hold the B&O magic at more terrestrial prices. They've been down this road of selling £10000 plus TVs and done badly, very badly. B&O like to repeat the same mistakes again, and again, and again, and again....

The 12-65 was 14k the it was released.....i guess they will think with the Horizon, they have the price spectrum covered....(not saying i completely agree with that sentiment, but thats probably their line of thinking)

B&O doesn't want to be a seller of cheap tvs? They want to sell premium tvs.....they want people to pay for the name and the quality. I am sure they would rather cease selling tv's then bring their prices down. If they sell cheap tvs then they just like every other manufacturer. There will be no prestige in having a B&O tv anymore.

I think one of the challenges here will be that when the tv is used it is very clearly an LG tv. To be fair B&O are not hiding this. But the day to day operation is totally recognisable as LG. It clearly says LV in places on the various screens/displays and menus . So having bought a Bang &Olufsen tv, you invite a friend round to check out your £10k tv and they say "it's exactly the same as my LG which cost a fraction of the price".

I do like the tv a lot. But really struggle with the price point personally on this basis, fantastic sound notwithstanding.

I'd buy one if it was £7k.

B&O have always been accused of making products using other manufacturers products....e.g. video machines.

They just take the best that is available...tweak it and package it beautifully. Nothing new there.

TV looks nice only the speaker is not very elegant even when the sound is SuperB.
I think pricing is as it is with B&O it was/is alway's the higher level.....

Still my brand........

What have they tweaked apart from adding a sound bar? For an extra £8,000 I could get the orchestra round for a night or two!

Might be close to 8k, if you don't want / need the aluminium grill and floor stand.

But yes, the TV experience will be very LG, whereas previously all aspects were unlike your neighbours....so the extra 4 or 5k is going to need some justification. Sound, design, connectivity is worth something - how much is personal value judgement in the end

In the end might not be a bad thing - Web OS is very well regarded

Haven't got my head around the design yet, might be a grower as they say!

I don't think you can call the soundbar a tweak...its much more than that...plus lets not forget about ease of connecting other B&O products but the end of the day you paying for the name as well. If you don't want to pay for that then you get a normal LG I guess.

If you look at the Manchester YouTube video, the remote seems to be able to control everything as before, so I suspect PUC control is all there

The press release just talks about connecting external speakers via WISA. Does it have Powerlink connectors for connecting non-WISA Beolabs?

Good overview of specs at the bottom of this article with regional pricing:

http://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1504086345

So the pricing was higher the thought at:

BeoVision Eclipse 55” incl. Wallbracket, fabric speaker cover and BeoRemote One: € 9.120/ DKK 69.490/U$ 10.990/£ 8.290

I do like it, with a black fabric speaker, maybe as an all in one solution it would be nice to have but I love my Beolab 20's and the additional price here is just too high for me personally. Having said that if money was not a consideration I would probably go for it.

I like the design - first off i was like huh, now i get it

What's the alternative though?  You go for a regular LG and a BS35 beneath it?

Key takeaway from the article: "The company no longer has an in-house video development team"

time will tell if this is a good thing or not...
