The digital media renderer (DMR) was working for me ok allowing me to use the "View on" and "Play on" from my phone to show/play stuff on the tv via the wifi network.

However, after a recent issue with the tv requiring it to be fully reset by a B&O engineer I now can't get the DMR function to work. I can't get my phone or laptop to find it as a DMR even though it is set as On in Menu > Setup > Network > Digital Media Renderer

Are there any other possible things that could affect its visibility/function on the network as a DMR?

I used this feature a few times so it was handy to have.

Whilst trying to find out why it's not working I have discovered that my phone can be a dlna server which I didn't realise before but it is handy for others to be able to push media/photos to the tv so it would be good to have it working again.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Did you check the Power Settings/Network?

Maybe theses were changed?

Hi,

I was connecting using ethernet so I went back to connecting via wireless (finding network and typing in password rather than using WPS) just in case that would make any difference but no joy.

The tv connects to internet ok - I can access BBC iPlayer and music from Deezer.

Still no joy though.

Are there any network requirements for it other than both devices connecting to the same network (in my case my home broadband router)?

Thanks

I was informed about a software update for the tv just before the tv was reset so I didn't try it after that. Incidentally that didn't fix my issue which is why the tv was fully reset and is now on the latest version of the software so there is a possibility that the latest update could've affected it.

It would be good to know if the Digital Media Renderer is still working for someone else using a BV11(-40) on software version 1.0.11.37472

I've connected via WPS instead to check whether that made a difference but still no joy.

I have just tried resetting my internet/broadband router to factory default setup to make sure that couldn't be affecting it...but still no joy.

Hi,

There is none....unless they make an update - which I would wish came, but don’t have much hope for.

I find it annoying, but can live without it.

Use the B&O Costumer Service and tell them, that you very much would want, what you had before.

The more people writing, the better.

Best thing would be, that the tv would appear in the Bang & Olufsen app just like with the DRM function of the Essence.

No, I didn't get it to work :(

Please contact B&O about it. The more of us that do the more chance of a fix.

Thanks

My Beovision 11 does the same thing too! Super irritating as I used this functionality often.  A while a go I wrote to Beocare but I got no response.

I was not aware of this function. Is that something that work on an iPhone?

I can cast from Youtube on my iPhone to bV11, but that’s not what you are discussing here right?

It is something like this.....if only the Avant etc would appear as a DLNA renderer there (as earlier).

So is the issue not confined to the BV11? Is it affecting the new Avant as well?

No - the Avant/NG is a completely other cup of tea - another SW platform/Android.

This is about the V1/the BV11/the Avant-2014/the BeoSystem 4 (standalone/BV12) - all built on the same platform.

Yes, the update issued ‘the problem’.

I have just bin informed, that there (probably) will not be made any new sw version.

However, it will be possible to downgrate the current version to an earlier, where the DRM function in intact.

As far as I currently know, it can be done via a technician.

How and at which costs, I don’t know right now - will report back.

Anyone interested could ask his dealer and - please - report back here.

What will be interesting, is to know what the latest update (1.0.11.37484) brought - apart from this issue?

Were there any improvements in it, bug fixes compared to the former version (1.0.11.37472)?

Looking for a comparison!

I have now received an answer from Bang & Olufsen Support.

They acknowledge that they are aware of the problem, and they are trying to find a solution. Currently the only work-around is to downgrade the software. My local dealer should be able to help. They will keep me informed of any news regarding the problem/solution.

Best regards - Dyssegaard

Thanks for that chart, Keith.

A good overview!

However, I was thinking more about the changes from the previous to the current  sw version of a e.g. BV11.

What was gained (we know what was lost!) - what do we loose (if anything inportant), if we downgrade to the previous sw?

If I remember well, the support for configuring/using BL50/90 (and presets for these) in the setup was part of the newest sw - something, that probably most of us can live without....

....was cool to see in the setup of speakers, though ;-)))

Another thing was related to the Spotify app - but nothing can bring the Spotify functionallity back on these tv’s anyway, so.....

Then there is the Netradio function, which was added at some point - anyone knows, when that was added....was it earlier, maybe???

(Note: the Netradio of the Avant/2014 can not be affected, since it was part of the original sw there.)

Well Keith, you are an angel....or at least heaven-sent ;-)

That is just, what was needed.

Because this would mean, that downgrading from version 484 to the previous 472 would not affect the Netradio function of the BV11/V1/BSys4.

So, if that is what we would get, when downgrading, all seems to be ok.

Just waiting for confirmation of the version from my dealer now.

Thanks for the reminder. Yeah, it was because of Deezer not working that I updated so downgrading for me is not worth it if I compare my requirement for using Deezer vs DMR

On a side note: does Deezer really work well now in your case?

If yes, I see that it will not be worth it for you.

Then again: the quest must be persuading the guys in the R&D to make both working - in a new update.....

.....before they forget the BV11/V1 etc platform ;-o

Hi all,

Along with the DMR issue with the BeoSystem4 TVs, there is also a Dolby Digital Plus audio problem with some sources. This issue is detailed here -

https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/25012.aspx?PageIndex=1

While the original thread is about the Nvidia Shield, I have recently discovered that the Google Chromecast suffers from this same problem (try casting Netflix to the Avant and all you get is PCM stereo even though 5.1 is available). This is a real shame as I think the Chromecast is a great way to keep these TV's "up to date".

Towards the end of the thread, you can see that B&O have a fix but have not released it to the public.

The BeoSystem4 TVs are awesome, but the software needs to be updated with fixes like the DMR issue and the Dolby issue otherwise they will become obsolete well before their time (especially considering the investment we have made)!

BeoWorld members with these TVs need to keep contacting BeoCare so that they are aware of the problems and the need to fix them. The more of us that do this the more chance there is it will be fixed. I will be doing this today and will report back.

Cheers,

Dion.

Thanks for metioning that.

However, I think that is a different issue.

The missing support of DD+ on these tv’s is probably a matter of licence fees - and nothing that will be ‘corrected’ now, I think.

This does not mean that you should not keep on reporting it to Beocare, but personally I have no big hopes for that.

Not talking about regular DD here, but about Dolby Digital Plus (which the BSys3 also can not decode from bitstream).

The ATV’s can be set to decode DD+ to PCM, so no problem there....for either system.

The ‘trouble’ begins, when you use a source device (the mentioned Nvidia Shield) or a ‘bridge’ like the ChromeCast),

which can not do this decoding and only sends the bitstream.

@Peter Pan

No, for the current, the 4 - or even the 4K - dependent on what they need.

The 3 was replaced in the fall of 2015 by the 4....with support for DD Plus.

A lot have already moved on from the 3 - but mostly because of the new tvOS with the ability of installing apps from the app store.

I did the downgrade this morning (on my V1-32).

Will report back with more details and pics later on during the weekend.

But you must be aware, that you will loose the NetRadio function from the current version!!!

You also won’t be able to use and have direct access to Deezer.

As expected the DRM-function works again - from 3rd party apps (8Player etc), but not from within the Bang & Olufsen app.

Beware - if you come across the needed sw, that you are doing this downgrade on your own responsibility.

In my case it ran smooth and without problems - same goes for the following upgrade to the current version, which I did less than half an hour after the downgrade ;-)

I’ll stick to the newest version - in the end Netradio is more important to me than the DRM-function.

Hi All,

I have been discussing both BeoSytem4 issues with BeoCare - the DMR functionality and the incorrect EDID identification for Dolby Digital Plus.

As has been mentioned elsewhere on the forums, the current solution to get the DMR functionality back is to downgrade. The current solution that fixes the Dolby Digital Plus issue is to request the pre-release software through your dealer.

I have confirmed with BeoCare that the DMR problem still exists in the pre-release software and therefore we can currently fix one problem or the other, but not both.

The person at BeoCare that I have been corresponding with did say that the next official version of the software should include both fixes, but he was not able to confirm when it would be released.

Not great news, but there you go.
