Hi all, new member here! :) Have been a B&O Owner since last year when I relieved a colleague of his beolab 6000 with beocentre 2300. I have now decided to add two more beolabs 6000 to the system.I would be picking some up over the weekend. Seller seemed knowledgeable although he was selling for a 3rd party but is selling both the 8ks and the 6ks which to me is more reassuring as it sounds as if it may have come from someone who had a system and therefore might have afforded it more "care".Anything I should look out for? obviously I will test the speakers and inspect them but I am no sound engineer so not sure what to expect? also, the plugs on the units seem different from the standard ones which I suppose were black and not white?Any suggestions to avoid disappointments are massively appreciated. Thanks Guys!
Remove the grills (they slide up) and inspect the drivers. Surround deterioration around the bass drivers is quite common in older speakers. 'Assume by 'plugs' you mean powerlink cables. 'Makes no difference if they're black or white.
Hi mate, thanks for your quick reply! Will give the speakers a good inspections with the frets off. Am still puzzled bu the white plug though and by plug i mean the socket to the electricity, where the cable is black and the head is white..seems like it may have been changed? Not sure though whether if indeed they were changed that they would have a detrimental effect on the speakers? What do you think? Thanks, looking forward to your knowledge :)
I suggest that the cables have previously been run into a restricted area - maybe the plugs needed to be removed and replaced - the black ones are moulded and so will have been impossible to refit. Or they have had the cables cut when they were stolen!!!

Ha i am naturally suspicious so thats the first thing i thought about aswell.. :) Although the seller is also selling 8000's and although is selling for 3rd party (father in law) is knowledgeable about the way it works so seems legit. Just wondering in case they have been indeed replaced, would you consider that a big red flag? I would presume there should not be any issues as plugs are all alike whether sealed or not but then again im suspitious :)
Peter, what exactly do you meawhen you mention they may have been run into a restricted area?
I suspect the cables was in area 51 before (still better than cut wires (best when speakers alive) and re-tape with plaster or something to put on bookshelves , Plugs are now available in screw-wire as well - not rocket science there really ....

Don't worry - be Happy

Why do you care about the power plugs? They are bog standard, detachable non-earthed mains cords you can get for peanuts from every joint that sells such things, not an integral part of the speakers and certainly not B&O specific. Concentrate on the real issues... Looks aside, I wouldn't even use mains cords where somebody (potentially with two left thumbs) has made modifications without checking them for safety first.
I would also put my ear on the tweeters. In a non-familiar listening setup with non-familiar music it might not be immediately obvious if one of them is out.

Cheers for all your replies guys..off to pick them up in half an hour :) as there is no testing source ill bring my beocentre 2300 to test them. This means i will also use a familiar track to test and compare which should be good to detect any issues. As for the plugs would have thought it werent an issue but just wanted to double check there was nothing overly sensitive about the speakers that prevented any non electrician like me from changing them ;)
