I just bought a Moment, which is in transit. I'm curious if anyone in here has continued using their BeoSound 5 after adding a Moment. I could always connect the BeoSound 5 to the NL with a third BeoLink Converter. (My 2nd Converter connects a 5500 and datalink turntable to the NL.) However, with the loss of Spotify, I'm not sure that I would see the point or ever see the need to use the BeoSound 5 anymore. Thoughts and experiences?

I'm going through a similar thought process with my BS5 now I have a chromecast attached to it. Do I need to play ripped CDs? So far the answer is no I don't. I'm not sure I would miss the BS5 if it was taken away but I would (and did) miss Spotify.

It's a bit of an emotional wrench to say "that's it, I'm just streaming now". But in reality what does the BS5 now provide?

Congratulations on your purchase. Please update us on how you get on with it as a new purchase and set up when the device is "mature" now compared to when it was first released.

Let us know how it goes.  I've been considering replacing my BS5 with a Moment.  Although I thought I might keep the BM5 to use as a NAS with the Moment (it holds the music I know and love - although I haven't really checked if this is possible - I think it is)... Insurance for when the internet goes down, or Deezer pulls a Spotify...

the BS5 is running Twonky or better to say if the Server function is switched on, Twonky is running. This service can be used as the DLNA server for the Moment.

Somewhat different, but I have in my Setup a BS5e (line in on a BLC) and the Moment running

The BeoMaster 5 can certainly be the DLNA server for the Moment. The issue becomes one of whether I would still want the BeoSound 5 interface as a source. If so, that could be achieved by using a third BeoLink Converter. I'm not sure if the N.Music of the BeoSound 5 could be mapped back into the "main" ML network by way of carefully assigning the primary and secondary sources on the 2nd BLC Converter. If not, then macros could be programmed into the BLGW to access the sources on the third BLC Converter.

Another option would be to move the BeoSound 5 into the bedroom and connect it to the Bedroom's BeoVision 10 as it's own ML connected to the NL via at the third BeoLink Converter. However, I think I would lose BLGW control over the TV if I did that.

I've been reluctant to part with my BeoSound 5 because I like the interface. I got the Moment in hopes of recapturing some of that B&O magic. Also, it would greatly simplify my system to have the BLC attached to the Moment set as A.Master. With my current setup, I've had to set the BeoLink Converter as V.Master since my BeoSound 5 is attached to the ML and therefore set my BeoSystem 3 in the same room as no longer the V.Master. It would also be nice to no longer need to use the combination of "AV + LINK + (video source mapped to play NL source on the ML) to get NL music playing on the speakers connected to the BeoSystem 3.

I, too, have felt an emotional struggle transitioning from ML over to NL. I'm not fond of needing to use my phone or tablet for control. To me, that loses the tactile B&O magic that I've always loved. I also miss the remote control. Hopefully the Moment will bring this back and I won't even miss the BeoSound 5.

From the feedback I've heard regarding problems with the current Moment software and issues with DLNA, I'm inclined to keep my BeoSound 5 in the NL. I've found that by using a separate BeoLink Converter just for the BeoSound 5, I can map its N.Music (with MOTS) as one of the ML audio sources on the "main" ML system in my home. Moreover, I can even map my TWO BeoSound 5 units and have each react to a different B&O source. This lets me continue to use the search and cover art feature of the Beo6 for the BeoSound 5. By using the same BeoMaster 5 for both BeoSound 5 units, I can use one audio source for the living room BeoSound 5 and another audio source for the bedroom BeoSound 5, map them both using BeoLink Converters, and control both BeoSound 5 units with the same Beo6 -- with full search functionality for both.

In short, I'll be merging 4 ML systems (BeoSystem 3 plus all speakers in the home, BeoGram 5500 turntable, BeoSound 5 #1, and BeoSound 5 #2) seamlessly together though the NL.
