As a follow-up to the bank thread.....
I now use Hiscox after a professional institution recommendation. Much lower cost than I expected.
They'll cover all your possessions anywhere in the world.
They say they are more flexible in what they will allow in the event of a customer having to make a claim and they also throw-in things like special kidnap recovery/ private investigation services... although I suspect you should tell them if you propose to go sailing off the coast of East Africa.

Hiscox. Leaders by a country mile. They even used to advertise here on BeoWorld, but not enough people clicked the link and they stopped.
Second to them, Norwich Union have always been excellent for me.

Agree completely - Hiscox. When I was burgled a number of years ago, the loss adjuster came round and asked who I was insured with. I asked why and he said he had never been to house when told simply to ask what I had lost and pay up straight away with no hassle. He said he was changing to Hiscox. I claimed something like £26,000 and they simply paid up.
They were also cheaper than many of my other quotes recently. If you have high cost items, there is no-one better.
