hi- this is my first post, so hello everyone!
I'm searching DBA, in CPH, for my first Beomaster. I see what I consider good deals in the BM5000/5500 range. BUT, no one has speakers for me to listen and see if the units actually work. Does this series use the same amp for the headphone jack? If I take headphones, plug them in, and get audio, can I feel assured that passive speakers will be powered also?
thanks for any help, and all the info I've gleaned from previous week of lurking! :)

BM5000, BG5005, BC5000, BG(cd)5500 via MCP5000 w/ RL60.2. BC9500 via BL1000 w/ BL8000 + Beolit 15
... or if you can find near to you for example a pair of CX-50/100 (not that big and perfectly matching BS5000/5500), , you could buy and take them with you and test the sound of the Beosystem ...
Good luck finding your first Beo
Vintage Bang & Olufsen
These systems are 25-30 years old by now.Buy one that has been electronically overhauled or expect to have it done.

Best bet is to buy from a proper dealer and not off a private ebay seller as you could get caught out. Good point is the fact that these items are now old and if not serviced will give you problems. However they do sound and look fabulous so are worth the expense.
that makes a lot of sense.
I was originally planning to drive out to Odense to a shop there, as he shows some very good inventory, but then saw some scary posts about his past deals on these forums.
I went to the B&O dealer in Lyngby today, and they suggested SBR Electronics (their local repair shop). I will check with them on which models are easiest to repair or get parts for, and focus on those.
DBA is just so enticing....
... but to answer your question, yes the headphone output comes from the same amp as the speaker socket. Crucially, this won't enable you to test the mute relay, which can often be faulty (but easily replaced) on B&O of this vintage.
... and personally I would (as I have in the past when living in DK) take a risk on dba, as long as you are aware of that risk, which you clearly are ...
Hi Dave,
I've sent you an PM.
