Just reieived a 7000 remote.  All appears to work,  and blue display is bright,  but I xan't make out anything on the screen.  If you hold it in the right light,  you can barely make out a few images.  My question is:  How do you adjust the brilliance.  Is this like contrast?  Thanks for any advice!

Can you read the text ? I mean, does it actually write anything in the display ? If the previous owner has tried to change the backlight, and did not align the display correct afterwards, then the display will not show any text.

If the text is correct, then it is possible to adjust the contrast if you remove the top glasspanel. There is an adjustment resistor to the left-top of the display that controls the contrast.

Jacob,  thanks for the reply.  I thought there was a "brilllance" adjustment on the display.  How do you remove the glass panel?

Jacob,  thanks for the link.  I'm not sure I'm up to it yet,  but contrast is my only problem.  Blue background is very bright.  (BTW),  My earlier posts were about a problem with my other 7000 remote.  It had new batteries installed,  but though it lights,  it won't control anything.    The latest control , which I just asked about will control the 7000 system,  but you can barely see the white letters against the blue background.  I hope to get up the nerve to open it up and try adjusting the contrast.   Once again,  thanks for your help and the link to the cap and screen repair.,  Best,  Bill
