I am wondering why there still is no possibility to drive the BL50 speakers via a wired digital connection from a BeoSound or BeoVision.

Hi Flere,

You can use a wired digital connection to Beolab 50 from older Beosound music systems, eg. Beosound 9000 or Beomaster 5 via an S/PDIF cable:-

Newer B&O music systems lack the digital output, which is a shame.  However, you can still use an analogue connection from newer systems.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve, Thanks for this information.

I read in another thread the BeoSound Core can drive the BL50 via optical.

So I going to test this and find out if this is the solution for me.

Hi Flere,

Good point!  I had forgotten about the optical output on the Core.

Kind regards, Steve.

The idea is:

Music listening

DeezerHiFi via Core - optical - BL50

iTunes Music via Mac Mini - AirPlay LAN - Core - optical - BL50 (until fully migrated Deezer)

Radio listening

Netradio via Core - optical - BL50

Ziggo Radio via CI+ module - HDMI - Avant - PowerLink - BL50

TV watching

Ziggo TV via Humax - HDMI - Avant - Avant speakers

Ziggo TV via CI+ module - Avant - Avant speakers

Movie watching

Blu-ray via BR - HDMI - Avant - Avant speakers and PowerLink - BL50

Netflix via Apple TV - HDMI - Avant - Avant speakers and PowerLink - BL50

Apple TV via Apple TV - HDMI - Avant - Avant speakers and PowerLink - BL50

Which also means I can listen to music while watching TV. I used to have this feature in the past years ago via a PowerLink switch setup in a BV10 Playmaker BL9 system.

The BeoSound Core has a DPL socket.

The BeoLab 50 has multiple DPL sockets. One is used to connect the slave to the master.

I wonder what would happen if the Core is connected to the BL50 via DPL?
