Why would you use the old Beosystem 3 to power a 4K TV? It doesn’t support 4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos or any recent technologies. The Beosystem 3 is years old now.
It's quite possible to use a BS3 just for surround decoding and bypass it for delivering video to the panel. My Oppo has, for example, two HDMI outs. Run one to the BS3, one to the TV, and use it's additional input as a two port switcher, the external source and the Oppo disc player, as just one example. For setup and when you need to see the on screen displays, connect the BS3's lower res output to an input on the TV, select it with the TV panel, do whatever adjustment you need, then go back to using an external device like the Oppo or an HDMI switch as an input to the panel. I've seen that done before, have at times considered doing it that way myself, but have never made the jump, what I have works quite well. Of course, since the Oppo also has 5.1 outputs you can get away without even using a BS3 if you don't want to connect other audio only sources.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Also to add, even though all Lg OLED sets remotes are bluetooth however, they still understand generic IR LG commands. It's not quite advertised as such but they do still work with IR. So Beosys PUC should be able to control it.
I'm using a Beosystem 3 MK3 with a LG OLED TV (1080p, not 4K) in one room, BS 3 connected via HDMI to the LG and the Beosystem 3 even wakes up when you switch on the LG TV. That's comfortable and it works. What doe NOT work are those sound modes / programmes: I didn't find any comfortable way to switch between e.g. TV, Cinema etc.and nobody else seem to know!? Guess I have to reprogram a Beo 5 for that.
Jeff thanks for the post. My main aim is to retain the Beolab speakers so your solution will work well for me.
