I have an IR eye which I use on a PC2. It has five connections on the PCB, although I only need three of them for the PC2. The eye has buttons on the front for TIMER, volume up, volume down and PLAY and all of the switches give a positive click when pressed.

I recently acquired another IR eye, which I was going to use on a BeoMedia. However, I was surprised to find that it is different. Is has seven connections on the PCB, no labels on the buttons, and the buttons do not click when pressed. Can someone tell me why there are two versions of the eye, and where each is supposed to be used?

Thank you.

It looks like an IR Eye for an old TVs with auto contrast, it doesn't have buttons. only sensor and IR receiver.

You can only use it as IR extender and connect only 3 wires:

Black - GND / Yellow - 5V / Green IR

Thank you. I'm surprised that the more limited receiver has seven connectors, whereas the one with buttons needs only five connections.

Odd.
