I am a new member here's about to invest in the Bevision 12 plasma TV for which I have found preciously few reviews, and also in this forum I find no evaluation of the products. The flat Beolab speakers and subwoofer are beautiful, but how about sound quality. Can anyone help give their view. I find that B&O lacks behind when it comes to smart TV functionality, why does it have to be almost puristic, and not sufficiently integrated wirelessly. You have to buy links and play devices to link up everything. Loewe reference system seems better thought through. I have heard next week there is a major launch from the company, maybe/ hopefully the will show something that is leading edge! Comments please

Welcome to Beoworld.

It is true that BV12 lacks the SmartTV, but it has a fantastic picture quality.

However, wait a few days and see what the new BV11 brings, it sounds very interesting.

If you can live with 55" though. And LCD, not Plasma.

I've also wondered why there hasn't been any reviews of the BV12 yet. It came out in February so you would expect that B&O's newest flagship TV be reviewed quickly

I spent weeks figuring out whether to buy a ex-demo (well, current demo) BV12 from my dealer. They gave me an exceptional price, based on me trading in my BV10-46 against it.

However, I finally concluded I'd wait, based on feedback from this forum and my dealer. Here were my reasons, in no particular order:

1) The BV12, BS3 aside, is nothing more than a decent Panasonic plasma in a better frame. Now, I know there's more to it than that, but the same Panasonic plasma is about £2000 and the BV12 is £17,000. i couldn't work out where they'd priced up that extra £15,000. I fully understand all B&O TVs use a Samsung, Panasonic or other panel, but the BV12 is simply a flatpanel, with an upgraded frame, connected to a BS3, for me. Clearly if money is no object, then you won't worry about spending £17K. I do.

2) It gets very very warm. It's like hanging a radiator from your wall. That's ok in winter, but as people rightly pointed out, when it's 30c outside, you don't want something radiating additional heat in to the room.

3) My dealer pointed out that they would not be interested in taking back the BV12 as a trade-in at later date, meaning I'd be stuck with it. They made it clear that they weren't going to get another BV12 for demo purposes, if they sold that model (to me). I got the impression it wasn't getting much interest and they would be glad to get rid.

4) My dealer mentioned waiting for the BV11 as there would be a 55" version, later this year and that be a better, lower cost and more future-proof option for buying a large screen B&O TV. He's probably right.

Well said Moxxey. I think it is a ludicrous purchase proposition unless money is no object. At half the RRP including the BS3 then MAYBE I could see some logic in buying it in the interest of integration, but otherwise I'd definitely hold tight and see what the BV11 offers.

Agreed - who is going to the launch evenings for the BV11? If I was the OP, I would make sure I was invited and compare the two. The BV11 would seem to be a lot cheaper and has a degree of SMART features. You can still wall mount it and use the BL12 speakers.

I of course am also looking forward to the details of BV11. When the BV12 arrived I considered it a bargain - at least compared to BV4. Considering you get the Beosystem 3 platform as well, I think the price/value is ok.

I would still be tempted to accept an exceptional offer on a BV12.

Call me old-fashioned, but I can only imagine how it must feel to consider a re-badged plasma panel and out-dated AV processor a bargain at £17,000 ;)

Assuming you think a five-year-old BS3 is worth £5500. My £200 PS3 has more processing and decoding power, I can assure you :)
