Here is a question for all NL/ML Converter users on the forum!

I am about to get me a NL/ML Converter - now that you can get these at a reasonable price.

What I want to achieve, is to have access to and control of my sources on my BSys4500/1611 converter/ML-setup on my NL-tv/tv’s via the Source Menu there as well as via a mapped ‘button’ on the physical remote.

That is no problem, basicly - but there is one question still unanswered to me.

Can I use the Phono AND the NetRadio command from my NL-tv’s/NL-devices...

....means Phono to activate the BeoGram vinyl 4500 and Netradio to activate the built-in radiofunction of the NL-tv’s/NL-devices?

Or is Phono and Netradio the same command???

Alternatively would I have to map the Phono/BeoGram to another (which?) command in the converter in order to ‘reach’ the 4500 vinyl player from the NL side?

Any real life experience with this and configuring the converter welcome.

Cant say I know this system at all. I use mine to connect a BeoSound 5 into my NL setup only. Functions I require all work. It may or may not have all the functionality you require.

I believe a BeoEngineer is often used to set these devices up in the home - I purchased mine second life and it did not work initially. When configuring my Avant 55, the installers set it up correctly.  User: Admin, Password: Admin

Hi Mr 10Percent,

thanks for taking the time to post.

Unfortunately this does not answer my question.

I am looking for someone, who has a BeoGram-vinyl on the ML side and who could tell me if it is possible to map the ‘Phono’ command

in order to get access to it/control it on the NL side.

Is the command ‘Phono’ available in the setup of the converter?

I surely trust myself to set up that converter - but wanted to know this before I start.

Hi MM,

As indicated, I do not know the ins and outs of this converter. However, what I have tried to show is the large number of permutations which I think is possible between the old ML and new NL systems.

My best guest is you should be able to link a ML command to an NL system. N.Music and N.Radio are I believe common NL and ML commands. Thus, I think you should be able to program something. I'm sure your BeoEngineer/Technician will have programs to configure this off-hardware a bit like the old BeoConfig program did for ML in its day.

Hi Millemissen,

I´ve my NL/ML converter in the box for time being but Beojeff have some experience mentioned in another thread.

If you would like to use both Phono + N.Radio it will be problem I think since they both use the same command / source code, i.e if you press phono on a old BL1000 it will activate N.radio in more modern equipment.

Beojeff have by using 2 NL/ML converter mapped the Beogram to react on the DVD button and control the Beogram via the remote (start/stop, rew/fw).

Hi Millemissen

I have a setup with a BV11 and a complete BS7000, I have full access to operate Bg7000 from all my NL Device, the challenge starts if you... like me...also have a  “extended” ML setup in other rooms because the audio commands RADIO - CD - TAPE - TAPE2 - and PHONO will always activate your ML (or datalink) audio Master

Thanks to both of you.

That is what I had almost though would be so.

I must now think of ‘another solution’ (which I already have in mind*), because I want to be able to use the NetRadio command for the radio function (of the tv) on the NL side.....the Radio command will go to the Radio of the BM4500 on the ML side.

*Since I use the BeoGram/vinyl rather seldom, I am going to map it to A.Tape/A.Mem - I have an old (B&O) Aux-Expander there and can then manually switch to the BeoGram, when needed.

A pity though, that you can’t use the ‘right’ command - I guess my wife can learn to handle that ;-))))

On the NL side you can use N.RADIO for the radio in your tv, in the menu of the NL/ML converter you decide which command to send to the ML side. I do the same.. pressing N.RADIO in the living room starts the radio in my BV11, but pressing N.RADIO in the link room with my BL3500 starts BG7000

@Soren,

I am aware of that.

It is just that I want things to be as simple and consistent as possible all over/in every room.

My wife should be able to understand and use the setup - this is always my goal ;-))))

She would never understand/accept, why the same different command in different rooms activates different things!

It should have been:

why the same command in different rooms activates different things!’.

Sorry for the typo.
