Hi i am new to this site and need your help

Have a complete 6500 system with 2 Beolab Penta Active Loudspeakers

I was Lisaning to a radio channel when there was pop and smell of burning and that speaker went  dead I removed the power supply so to get it on the work bench and found the 2amp fuse had blown as you will know a lot of bits to remove to look at the printed circuit board No visible signs of any burning i decided to replace the 2Amp fuse and plug into the main the fuse held and red light was on I had no Speakers connected or power link cable

Do i need to look at any part that may be housed within the speaker iinclosure

I have seen a lot of take about burnt out resisters and high value capacitors t

Thank you

terry

The fuse is not the reason for the problem and it's not the reason for the burning smell either.
The fuse is what saved your house from a potential fire.
Replacing the fuse without correcting the reason it blew wont provide good results.

The fuse blew because something drew a too high current from mains.
That will have to be investigated, diagnosed and repaired.

My money would be on a bad idle current trimmer causing a runaway, perhaps a blown output stage.
It wouldn't be a first.

First step would be to check the output stage darlingtons and their emitter resistors.
Next up is the idle current control, the trimmer and relarted components including the constant current generator.
If all that is fine, move back to the power supply, check rectifier etc.

I do understand what you are saying i am thinking his is going to be a problem for me i have no circuit diagram and with only an avo meter i fell i could make things worse i am shore you would agree as much as i would like to fell the satisfaction of having repared it.

I just wish i new and be near to some one like you that could do it for me I love my B&O having purchased a 6500 Tangental Turntable and a 6500 Master Control Panel i need to get it repaired
