Hey I was wondering if it possible to take this part off. When I put in a cd it seems to rattle and not read, I think the spring inside this holder is the problem. I was also wondering if anybody has a replacement part for sale or knows where I can get one.

It is very tight pressed on the spindle, it can be done, but requires a lot of force.

I would recommend to add some "rough" tape(I found some nylon like tape) instead. I have found some tape wider that the black ring, then using 2 spacers, one with a diameter like the black ring, and one for cutting the hole for the inner spindle.

This will put more friction on the cd and stop it from rattling. Use black tape if you can find it.

I have used this fix on several 35/4500 cd's also.

What is happening is that the black rubber ring becomes hard and looses friction.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Thank you very much!
