Hi guys,

Hi have trouble setting up a BeoLink Wireless set-up. I have connected the transmitter to my BeoVision 8-40 through MasterLink. The receiver is placed in my kitchen with a pair of Lab 4's and an IR-eye. I have paired the transmitter/receiver and everything looks fine - except I cannot turn the Lab 4's on at all... The eye won't react to any close operation. I have set the wires in the eye as described in the users guide. Any ideas what might be wrong? The IR-Eye is the type with no text on it.

Best regards,

Frederik

BeoVision Eclipse 55, BeoPlay S8 (sub+rears), BeoPlay A9 MKII (living room), BeoVision Avant 32 DVD (retro gaming, basement), BeoLab 4000 (entertainment room, basement), BeoSound 8 (workshop), 2x BeoPlay S3 (PC), BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay H2/H3 (on the go)

Hi - I am away from home, so I can't check manuals and my kit but ....

1/ sounds like you have got the two Beolinks set up correctly - one switched to transmit, the other to receive

2/ sounds like you have the transmit correctly connected to your BV8-40

3/ I presume you had your BV8-40 upgraded with the system module ?  Earlier this year I had troubles with mine, and the system module was not recognised, it could be that you have a problem like this - can you check that the system module is present ? see my thread here ==> http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/1011/8430.aspx

4/ you should be running two powerlink cables from the receive beolink to the two Beolab 4s

5/ you need to switch the Beolab 4s to powerlink mode - not PC mode

6/ did you wire the IR eye yourself ? or did it come prewired ? did it come with the Beolink wirless ? is there a chance you have a differnt IR eye - such as the Beoport version ?

7/ can you describe the IR eye ? are there any labels or symbols on the IR eye's lenses ?

I will check back on your answers in about 10 hours from now Smile

Hi Elephant,

Thanks for the answer, I apreciate it. I can confirm on # 1, 2, 4 and 5. Regarding #3: My BeoVision 8-40 has a system module installed. I will check the version. #6 The IR-eye has been wired be me as descriped in the BeoLInk Wireless guide. #7 My IR-Eye looks like this and is the only one I got: http://www.gophoto.it/view.php?i=http://www.flatpanels.dk/billeder/large_Lintronic_IR_eye.jpg#.UG1pGlG1KSo .

Could the IR-Eye be broken?

Have you set the correct options as per the user guide? I had an issue with mine as I assumed it was "plug and play" but until I set the correct option it did not work.

You don't say if it works with your remote!

Ooops the above post came as I was typing Whistle

If your IR eye looks like the one in that photo it is likely not to be correct. It should look like the one in the manual for the BeoLink Wireless and have "Timer" "Play" and "< >" arrows.

There are different IR eyes.

Hi, as Stoobietoo says, this looks more like a Beoport IR eye than a Beolink one.

Where did you buy the IR eye from ?  If a dealer, can you ask them to double check !

Did it come in the usual brown box ?

There should be a part number on the box . . . . .

Also, are you using a Beo4, and what source are you using to trigger the Audio on the Beolink Wireless ?

And as per Stoobietoo's other post -- did you set any options ?

Oh, I just asumed it was a link eye Smile It came with a BeoMedia 1 I bougt very cheap recently. I have set the option on my television to 6 so that should not be the problem. I have to see if I can get the "real" IR-Eye. Thanks for your answers!
