Hi all,
I picked up a replacement Beo4 remote, at least I think it's a Beo4 as it looks the same as my current one, because mine has an issue with the screen not working. However am not sure if it needs pairing to the TV or something similar as I can't get things to work. For example the manual says that if I press the List button I should get a "List" but nothing displays also the VTape button doesn't even switch to my plugged in console.
Help please!
Hi NeoGeo,
The first thing to do is make sure the Beo4 is sending the IR. Point it at a video camera or mobile phone camera on press a button and you should see it glow in the lense.
Beo4's do not need to be paired. The list button may not change anything if there is nothing in the list. The screen doesn't actually show a list but rather, each time you press it, it moves on to the next item in the "list". The manual tells you how to add, remove, or move items.
Does it control the TV? What TV do you have? Did your old one control it all properly? There will always be something on the screen of the Beo4? If it is blank you have an issue with that one too. What does it currently show?

If you have an iPhone, use the 'selfie' or forward facing camera. The main iPhone camera of some models (eg 5s) does not always detect IR.
Hi Stoobieto, thanks for your reply, I'll be a bit more specific. The remove is used for a Beovision 3 tv.
After testing it a little more it seems that the buttons on the left hand side are not working at all. For example the number 7, 1 and 4; Stop; V-Tape; List; Back button next to 'Go', etc.
The remote does operate otherwise, not sure if I should just open it and try checking the connection points? What do you think?
Hi Guy, thanks again. :)
So that seems to be your issue. I can't really help with opening them up as I have never done that, but apparently the screen is easy to change so maybe swap the screen from that into your old working remote if you can't get it working after opening it.
There is a service manual in the manuals section on this site that would likely to help.

The buttons that you mention all share the same two (out of 12) connection points between the Beo4's keyboard and the rest of the module. It's well worth taking it apart and removing/reconnecting the small metal clamp that holds these connections in place.
This thread will help: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/21827/180453.aspx#180453
And you can see the 12-way connection clamp that I mentioned just above where the red wire joins the circuit board on the second photo of the thread.
Hi Guy, thanks so much you're a wealth of information and advice, I'll give a try.
Cheers.
