Hi Guys.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good product to stream files from my NAS to my Beovision 7-40 1.gen.  My TV only has a DVI input, so no HDMI.

2 wishes:

1: The box should ideally run Plex or XBMC or anyhing similar

2: Using the BO remote to control the box

All the best

Martin

If you want to run xbmc, have a look at the hw proposals at xbmc.org.

The latest version of PUC supports Microsoft 1039 remote controller (media center edition), so B&O remote can directly control the box.

I might be stupid, but i cannot find anything about this on the xbmc.org site. Do you have a link?

The only i know of from before is Boxee, but no other output than HDMI.

Apple Tv 2 jailbreaked will work with plex and B&O PUC. I have this setup running on similar product (BC 6-23). Be aware that you will need a DA converter for sound.

There are some xbmc based streaming clients and they should all work via B&O PUC for Microsoft 1039.

HFX Cine Play XB2 streaming client tested on recet BV10-46 and 7-40 using QNAP as well as WD NAS.
B&O PUC for Microsoft 1039 is working. Real fun if you are using a customized user interface on a Beo 6.

You'll need a TOSLINK >> SPDIF COAX translator
(plus an update of the AC3 SW of your BeoVision to use PCM Audio)

Thanks guys. I have never seen these products before. But all of them have only HDMI output, and since i have a Gen.1 7-40, i am uncertain if it will at all accept a digital signal. Is it possible to upgrade the TV?

Hi there,

I also have the old type BV7.  I use Sony PS3 to connect the NAS to BV7 and it works fine.

You also need the optical to co-axial convertor for the sound or just accept the normal phono jack for the audio.

I have also connect the IR blaster to control the PS3 but you may need the firmware update to include PS3 in the PUC list.

Actually, one the 1 generation BV, there is no support for stereo sound through coaxial input AFAIK. You will need to run analog audio if you also want it to work with anything else than 5.1.  You might be able to opgrade your tv a bit (HW and SW) and have it work, but i dont remember if this was also an option for 1 gen BV 7.
