Can anybody tell me how to enable and disable Speakers 1 output on a Beocenter 9000? At the moment they are OFF. I know that they will be turned off when headphones are plugged in, as the jack plug socket shorts the relay drive, but I notice that there is also a transistor that can control the Speakers 1 relay, but no idea how to control it.
Hi leafrancis,
Pressing the MUTE button on the 9000 will disable the Speakers 1 output, but leave the Speakers 2 output playing. The red MUTE light will show in the display.
Kind regards, Steve.

Thank you Steve for your advice. The MUTE button definitely operates the MUTING relay as I can hear it, but still no output on SPEAKER 1 sockets. This also removes the possibility that the headphone jack is holding the relay open permanently. I will now look more closely at the MUTING relay, as it could possibly be faulty, although I would have thought unlikely on both LEFT and RIGHT.
Thanks again.
Tony
Just a thought - are you sure that there isn't a 1/4 inch to 3.5mm adaptor in the headphone socket? The BC9000 has a 1/4 inch headphone socket, but others have failed to notice that an adaptor has been left inside for the more common 3.5mm headphone plug.
Otherwise yes the relay is probably faulty. I assume Spkr2 works well?
