Hi,

Just purchased a second hand Beocenter 9300 and Penta speakers, sounds wonderful and in almost mint condition.Smile

I had a demo at the house I purchased it from and it ran fine for about 2 hours at home.

When I went to put in a new CD the opening door jammed, I could move it with my finger (gently) and it closed itself OK.

I assume it wants the runners cleaning or a new door opening belt fitting. I can use it but would like to sort it out before some permanent damage takes place.

I see a number of posts on "the door opening problem" topic but not seen one that says what you actually do.

I am an old computer/electronic engineer so do have some skills in this area.

Question - How do I get to clean the runners and replace the drive belt (if required)?

Also (I live in the UK), where do I get the drive belt for the CD & tape cassette drive?

Thanks - a B&O newby.

Hello Beiber39,

To get access to the mechanism you have to but the Beocenter in Service position.

  1. You have to lift, open the small plastic cover on the rear.
  2. There is a screw which is fixing a  long plastic sliding-cover.
  3. Remove the screw and slide and remove the cover - be careful not to break the plastic noses.
  4. In the back, there are approx. 5-6 Torx Screws indicated by arrows. Remove them.
  5. Remove the 3 Torx screws in the lower front of the Beocenter 9300.
  6. Now you can open the upper part of the Beocenter by lifting it up on the rear.
  7. There is a rod to fix it in the open position. As you may know it from the car hood holder.

Now you have access to the mechanism and you may see where the problem is. You also see the motors and belts for cd and tape drive.
Be careful when operating under currency!

Belts for the mechanism and tape drive are available on ebay for a few £. They are equal for 9000 9300 9500.
Search for 'Beocenter belt'.

Hope this helps,
Kind regards, Greg

Get belts from BeoWorld member Dillen. They fit properly and he provides instructions.

Thank you both guys, much appreciated.

I will purchase a couple of belts and replace the CD & Cassette unit drive belts.

Thanks for everyone's help.

I purchased the drive belt from Ebay as Dillon did not have any.

Also sprayed the guide rails with silicon lubricant.

All now OK.

Hi.... if you want to use the rod (like car bonnet prop) to support the amp in service position, DO NOT trust the plastic P-clip...

When the amp is in normal position this plastic clip is on top of the transformer, gets hot, and becomes brittle...

Either replace the P-clip, or don't use the rod...

If the panel falls, it could easily break the glass panels...

Thanks for the warning, I did think it looked a bit flimsy when I used it but managed all OK.

Working wonderful now.
