Can you connect a Beogram 3500[with inbuilt RIAA} to a Beocenter 9500 through its phono socket? My reason for asking is that both machines have inbuilt RIAA and not being very technically minded I've no idea if there may be problems. Many thanks for any help/advice.
No, 'fraid not. Either disable the RIAA in the Beogram if you want to retain Datalink (remote control), or plug the deck into the AUX socket on the Beocenter if remote is not important.

altist:Thank you for information. It’s rather what I thought....I presume to have remote control with my BG 3500 I need a beomaster without RIAA built in.
Correct
Hi Altist,
There is another option.....
A custom Datalink wiring loom could be made with a Line to Phono attenuator fitted in the middle, this would reduce the amplified signal from the RIAA output of the Beogram back down to Phono level to give control via the Phono socket of the Beocenter.
Not ideal, but it could be the cheapest option if you don't want to replace the equipment or pay a repairer to have the Beogram modified. Please drop me a line via my sponsor link below if this is of interest.
Kind regards, Steve.
