Hi,

used my headphones on my new (2 weeks old) Beocenter 9300 and when I took them out the speakers were coming in and out, sometimes a bit crackly and distorted, I suspected my using the headphone socket had disturbed the speak switches on the socket.

I removed the socket and cleaned it with contact cleaner. Its an enclosed socket with what appears some active/passive components on the socket PCB, not a simple switched headphone socket.

Its working fine now, maybe forever, maybe not.

Does anyone have a contact/supplier of Beocenter parts in case I need a new headphone socket?

Thanks

There are a few passive components on the same circuit board, but the socket itself is nothing special - just the plug contacts and a simple switch that controls the muting circuit. The switch doesn't interrupt the audio signal directly, so the real problem causing the crackling may be in the speaker muting relay. If the BC has been sitting unused before you got it, you may well get lucky and it will be fine after some excercise.

Thanks for the comments.

As stated, it seems to be working fine at the moment, let sleeping dogs lie I think.

I am very pleased with everything about my B&O system at the moment, its resurrected my passion for music after being in the doldrums for the last 10 years, like having new ears!!!

Thanks,

I will let sleeping dogs lie as its working fine. I suspect it had not been used for some time but it is in almost mint condition, very happy with it, its resurrected my passion for music which, for some reason, died about 10 years ago, its like getting a new pair of ears!!!
