I have acquired preowned beogram 5005 and connecting it to beocenter 9300 using PHONO/AUX input, however the is sound at all.Using brand new MMC3 cartridge. From what I understand 9300 has built in pre-amp.Seems like BeoGram issue - could it be that I'm doing something wrong? Thanks,David

No, there is no RIAA preamp in a BC 9300. You'll need a standalone - try www.phonopreamps.com
You should get some sound - just thin and quiet. You need an RIAA but it should still be able to heard.

I do indeed hear very thin sound.Thank you! I should start looking for Beogram 9500 or 4500. Is there a significant different between two?
The Beogram 9500 does not have built in RIAA.
You should look for a Beogram 3500, 4500, 6500 or 7000 or an older Beogram 6000 Quad. However, these will all be expensive as they are much rarer than the non RIAA models, especially when in good condition.
The Phonopreamps.com TC770 LC model is ideal if you decide to buy a stand alone RIAA pre amp as it is high gain to compensate for the low output of B&O cartridges.
