Hi there!
I am trying to clean the part shown on the picture. It is a BeoGram 1200.
It seems to be a bit fuzzy or dirty. Rubbing alcohol can't clean it.
Does anyone know how to make this as pretty as new? If possible.
Thank you.

Hi Christian
I'm no expert, but It doesn't look like dirt, more like corrosion/pitting of the surface. In my experience, if a baby wipe doesn't shift it, it ain't going to shift!
Cheers
Nigel
It can't be cleaned away. It's oxidation/corrosion as Nigel suggests to the eloxated aluminium.Only way to remove it is to sand it away, but that would also remove the eloxation and the lettering and the knob would be impossibleto keep clean afterwards. Untreated aluminium will turn black from finger-acid.
Only cure is a replacement part. And they are not easy to come by, they will all have this, more or less.

Agree with Martin here, I have a couple of BG1800/1200 type Beograms. They seem to be particularly prone to this oxidisation, not much you can do about it!

Thank you everyone. I'll leave it alone then.
I had a spare part which i tried to clean with Brasso. After a lot of sweat i managed to make it almost as pretty as "new".
Maybe it is possible to treat the aluminium with some kind of mat varnish so it won't turn black again?
