Compared to the C7 - Bluetooth connectivity.
On the C7, not on the Eclipse.
Yes, but you were talking about an Eclipse....not a LG C7 ;-)
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Not sure why this is so difficult to understand.
The Eclipse is a C7 with B&O sound. Yet in so doing they disabled one of the potentially very useful features of the C7.
As others owners have stated, i'd be livid with that outcome.
But of course B&O can do no wrong......

That is exactly my point: the Eclipse is NOT an LG C7 with B&O sound!
It is an C7, which (for the sound part) was modified for working with the Sound Center, that B&O has built.
Yes, of course B&O can do something ‘wrong’ - but in this case it is simply a matter of choosing to let ALL audio processing be made from their own device (= the Sound Center).
The did not promise you any bluetooth out connection - why should you be disappointed then?
Sandyb:I have high standards.
No contradiction - i was merely making the point initially that the Eclipse is a bit of frankenstein mix, which to some extent it clearly is.
And i used the example of the loss of the BT headphone connectivity from the underlying panel as a strange side effect - one which others have mentioned, and one that would have annoyed me. Of course i dont own an Eclipse, and its hypothetical, and generally i do my research beforehand.
But the broader point remains - a C7 owner can use his BT headphones, an Eclipse owner cannot. Given the genesis of the Eclipse, that's a slightly weird, and difficult to reconcile outcome. Whether that's important to you or not, is of course down to the individual.
My sister just bought a 700 GBP Sony Bravia - it has BT headphone connectivity.
But go right ahead, and defend B&O from removing it / not offering it on an 8k set.

I solemnly make a note about the arguments made and the call to "supremacy".
Neither do I ‘defend’ it - I merely underlined that B&O has choosen to do all audio processing on their own (and thanks for that).
As a result there is is no support for the BT-out as in the native LG C7 tv.
Wheher they could have built-in BT support in their own audio solution, I have no idea.
Some may miss it - others won’t.
You dont need to point out what B&O have done capability wise - we're all well aware of that, i can read a spec sheet.
Of course losing the BT audio option will matter less to some, more to others.
I used it as an example of the size effects of the hybrid / modular / frankestein approach that has produced this BV.
Adding the BT capability is hardly complex, and either seems an overnight, a strange deliberate choice, or somehow necessitated by the hybrid approach.
Either way, not optimal, especially considering its not a complex functionality they've left out.
My initial point was that under this approach, these side effects need to be better managed by B&O.
Pointing out that its not in the end products spec doesn't address the central point.
There are other examples of compromise that exist in the Eclipse - again, sensitivity amongst the customer base will vary, but they are there.
My hope, as expressed initially, was that any future BV's manage these compromises better.
But being disappointed about a feature missing that have never been advertised seems…
And Eclipse have a ton of features that the C7 do not have.
Anyways about product without software failure seems impossible in 2018 sadly,
But I enjoy my Eclipse everyday without any issues, and just looking forward to My buttons is added, seems weird that it is taking so long, but personally I did know this before buying so I have a bit of patience left.
Beovision Harmony 77" 2nd Gen, Beolab 5, Beolab 17, Beosound 1, Beoplay M3, Beoplay Portal, Beoplay Earset, Beoliving Intelligence
indeed, its not the most important feature.
i use it more as an example of one of the odd compromises that can happen with the hybrid approach.
Especially when it is featured on many lower priced TV's.
Seeing and selecting sources on the remote, as opposed to also on the on screen menus, to me is another. Again, not crucial, but again a bit strange to me.
My hope for the future was that this partnership approach would produce fewer such compromises in any future BV's.
Not an unreasonable wish.
As for software stability, that's another thing.
Sorry, this one I do not understand?
Do you mean you would also be able to choose input in the TV menu?
Wow, this thread has gone somewhat off-topic.
One thing is clear, no-one on here, even those guys are a little more 'in the know' than others, have any clear idea of what's coming? Most dealers have a reasonable idea what's in the pipeline, even if they haven't seen products in the flesh. I remember my local dealer used to get preview emails from B&O months before a launch (he couldn't share the info, but he'd drop hints).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but we knew the BeoLab 50 was coming quite a while before it's August 2017 launch? We definitely all knew the Eclipse was coming at least 4-6 months prior to launch!
Now, nothing?
Apologies, my fault somewhat.

Actually I think B&O has the right idea. I have slightly older LG OLED and it's bluetooth is useless. For whatever reason LG had originally only allowed their own LG soundbars to pair. Indeed on my set I can't pair any BT audio device to it - curious to try.
Unless LG has changed their mind recently regarding third-party BT devices, B&O probably just had them disable it.
Besides, BT audio in general is terrible and unreliable.
Reading avforums.com, there are LG owners who are using other BT headphones with their LG TV, without any transmitter.
Anyway, BT audio is not the end of the world - was just using it an example of one of the odd compromises inherent in the Eclipse.
I was playing with an Eclipse recently - didnt realise that the source selection was visible only on the remote, and not also on the main LG UI / menu.
Unless the store was misinforming me, that's just another example of what appears to me a less coherent product than i'd expect for the price.
They do better next time, they have my money.

Cool. Ok, back on topic? Can you all take the Eclipse discussion to the Eclipse thread?
done, my bad
Wireless BL3 - done.
Who do i pay?

After essentially replacing the 4000 with the 17 with its stamped aluminum front and plastic back, I don't think I want to see what B&O/Sparkle would do to the BL3.
Actually I am expecting a bit more than ‘just’ a WiSA-BL3.
That would be too easy ;-)

And almost certainly would have been out by now - it would have just replaced the existing BL3.
I love my BL3s. Probably the best performance versus size and cost.
I wonder how many people walk in to a B&O store in 2018 simply to look at speakers? And what do most people connect them to, B&O system aside?
