Hi i'm sure this has been covered before.
I have connected my new Beolab 3 Speakers to my Panasonic tv via the Audio out connectors.
But have found out that my audio out on my tv is not volume controlled (so is really loud when turned on)
I have linked them via the headphone jack. Which does work but is not the best way of linking them.
Have bought both cables through Sounds Heavenly. (rca lead and headphone lead)
So what is the easiest and best way to link the 2. Have been reading in to this and getting confused with what i need.
I dont want to spend a fortune to solve the problem. Would it also allow more speakers to be added at a later date.
All help kindly received
It's usually the case that the headphone out is the only volume-controllable option, so the Sounds Heavenly cable should be everything you need.
I'm sure if you've been dealing with Steve at Sounds Heavenly he will have given you the absolutely correct advice in the first instance.

Michael: The headphone volume is controllable however it is not controllable by the volume button. In the sound menu you can change the volume there and in addition turn down the Panasonic internal speaker down on your remote.

Do I understand it correctly that if you connect the BL4s via the headphone jack, you cannot change the volume with the remote control volume buttons directly? Do you have to go into the TVs options and adjust the volume from there?
rob08 yes that is true. As i have connecting them up that way. But i think i'm going to look into the av receiver option.
Been reading into av recievers. As the beolab 3s are active speakers. Should i get a av processor instead???? thanks
Would it work if you add a Playmaker to the mix and control the volume via the Beo4/6?
E.g.:
TV headphone -> Playmaker -> BL4s
That will work. But I would use the audio out connectors of the Pana, so only the Playmaker controls the volume and will also switch on as soon there is a line signal detected. The Playmaker will also remember the volume from the last use.
Nice add-on: Airplay from iTunes or your iDevice. (if you have one)

An av processor has no amp built in which would work with beolab 3s as they have amps inside them. Is this true or not.
Have seen this one and seems to get good reviews:
Audiolab 8200AP AV Processor. Would prefer not to use the headphone jack. thanks

Hi Boycey,
Sorry for the slow reply. Thanks for buying your cables from me, I'm always happy to help if you need any advice on cabling. Don't forget that you can return these for a full refund if they don't do exactly what you need - this can be at any time up to 60days after purchase, so there is no rush.
Almost all non-B&O TVs have fixed Audio Out sockets (with some Loewe and Sony models being the exception), so these sockets are not normally suitable for directly connecting Beolab speakers. The headphone socket can be adjusted, but as you mentioned, Panasonic have a habit of hiding the headphone volume control in a separate menu which can make it tricky to use.
You can use the Beolab speakers with any audio system, whether or not it has pre-out sockets - HOWEVER - special converters are needed to reduce the signal level if you wish to connect to the amplified speaker terminals of the audio system or receiver (ie. the speakers should never be connected directly to these terminals). I can help with any combination of cables or converters if required.
The best option is always to choose an audio system with either an easily-adjustable headphone socket, or pre-out sockets, so that the speakers can be connected directly to these outlets. If you already have an audio system in the room, please let me know the details and I will be happy to advise on how to connect the speakers to this. Otherwise, an AV processor like the Audiolab 8000AP with pre-out sockets is an excellent choice.
If you need any further help or advice, please feel free to ask at any time.
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

If you are looking to replace your dvd/cd player and add a media server too. You might want to consider the latest Oppo offering the BDP-105. You get to upgrade the sound and vision of quite a few HDMI output sources too and yes you can add more speakers at a later date. Don't don't compromise B&O active speakers with underwhelming sources. I am supposing the Beolab3s were not free so why treat them like they are?
Or you can get a surround processor but most of them do not present as much value and convenience as the Oppo.
i am guessing that the Beolab 4 PC version will work no problems as your plug the speakers into the headphone socket on a MacBook/ Laptop.
Beosound 8, Beotime, Beocom 4, Beo 5, Lutron Rania, MacBook 15" (Mid 2015), iPad Pro, iPhone 6S, B&O Play H3, Beolit 12, Form 2, A8 Headphones, B&O Play A1, B&O Essence

He already has a pair of new beolab 3s. I don't think that will be a too sensible thing to do. And he was looking to add more speakers in the future to his Panasonic tv and not his computer. Maybe he is looking to do a full surround sound in the future.
