My Beocenter 9300 cassette player now makes a terrible screaming sound (mechanical?). When I stop play and take the cassette out the screaming continues. When I start fresh the sound is not there, but it starts soon.
Any idea what it could be? The belts are only 1 year old. How do I open up a Beocenter 9300 to take a look?

It is most likely the motor bearings that are screaming. This could happen if the belt is not the right size, if it is to tight, it will cause stress on the motor.
It could also be the capstan spindles, but is less likely. I have fixed a few with the correct belts and lubing the bearings again, I just used sewing machine oil and let the motor run upside down for some time to soak up the oil.
There are many threads on opening a 8000/8500/9300/9500. They are all 99% the same regarding opening. Just be careful with the glass, it will come loose a break easily if it falls off.

Thanks for the fast reply!
I just realized I had it serviced in October 2017 and there is still 2 weeks guarantee on it. I will take it to repairshop.
