Evening fellow Beoworlders,

I just installed a BV11-55 and connected the PUC cable to my Sky Q main box. All works fine and I can Pause, Play, Forward, Reverse using those Beoremote buttons.

Is there some kind of ‘manual or guide’ available on-line on further commands such as choosing recordings, record..  etc? Or is the Beoremote One control limited to just the simple commands?

Cheers

Brian

Press "menu" or the "home" button on the BeoRemote One to get the menu overlay to see which buttons to use for commands. Those assigned to color buttons can be pressed without pressing "home" first. Those assigned to numeric buttons must be pressed after the "home" button while the menu overlay is up.

Thank you Jeff!  How do I assign a command to a colour button? Nothing happens when I press any of them...

How does the overlay look like - could you post a picture?

You cannot assign anything to a button. The person at B&O who designed the PUC already assigned functions to the buttons. It's unusual that the color buttons are not used for the PUC. You need to press the "home" button on the BeoRemote One to see on the menu overlay how the buttons are assigned.

Happy to post a picture MM and thank you for your input.

I have been trying to upload photos to my file so I can post a photo thread of my house build & B&O installations but I simply cannot upload any photos to my files or figure out how to post photos. Do I need to subscribe to upload photos?

I’ve managed to upload 2 pics to my file. However, when I click on ‘film strip’ in a post to add a pic and click on Brian’s files diamond, it says uploading and just freezes there. I only uploaded 2 pics so the file is small. When I try to change avatar I get the Beoworld error message.

Moderators can you help and talk a look at my profile please?

I searched and found that there is a version of the Sky Q remote that actually has red, green, yellow, and blue buttons. It looks like the PUC was made to directly correspond to those colored buttons. What happens when you push numeric buttons for functions such as GUIDE (1) and INFO (5)?

Buttons 1-9 do work, guide & menu work on the Beoremote one, fast forward, play pause etc also work. It’s just the colour buttons that seem to do nothing.

I suspect that the color buttons are used only when you have options to use them on the screen. For example, my set-top box (not Sky Q) has buttons for A, B, C, and D that are listed on the menu overlay. They are only relevant when I'm doing something with the set-top box that provides those as options. In your case, I think it's a waste of use for the color buttons since those buttons can be used without pressing "home" first. Perhaps not the best design of the PUC in the case of Sky Q. At least you know you can have the functions for guide, info, etc. when you press "home" for the menu overlay. Hopefully, the "guide" and "info" dedicated buttons on the BeoRemote One work for you.

Thank you for the detailed response Jeff.

Yes it all works, was just unsure why the colour buttons did nothing. Your explanation makes sense though.

Is there really nowhere, when managing the box, that a coloured button for an action is displayed?

There aren’t any coulored buttons on the/your original Sky box remote, or???

You can find these on almost any remote nowadays.

This is from a user guide of a Sky Q remote:

19. Coloured buttons - Opens interactive services when you see the option. Press red to open Sky Sports interactive

or green to set a recording for an upcoming show.

Maybe it is just the way the PUC is written - in that case only the guys at B&O can give an answer.

Nice setup - by the way, how is the BC2 integrated in the setup? Do you use a converter?

There are colour buttons on the sky q remote. But the colour buttons on the Beoremote one do not correspond and do nothing when pressed.

Thanks MM, the BC2 is connected to the BV11 with a special audio/video cable from Steve at Soundsheavenly.. it doesn’t communicate with the BV11, merely plays DVDs which is fine. I didn’t want to ditch it as I love the look of it sitting so nicely between the 5s and the BV11.

The setup has Beolab 3s on floor stands opposite it. We have only just moved into our recently refurbished typical English 1980s house now converted into a Scandinavian hybrid :-)

I will get some photos together pre build, pre install etc and start a thread with the other B&O installations throughout the house. Just need to complete a few things first.

We must then conclude, that ‘the PUC engineers’ have done ‘half’a’job’........at least untill they tell us why they don’t work.

A happy new beginnng in London 🙂

The corresponding colour buttons replicate the sky q / Foxtel remote here.

In Australia sky is known as Foxtel and they have identical boxes and remotes.

The corresponding colour buttons work when you’re on the guide like it was the Foxtel remote

You can long press the red button to record too I just worked out tonight.

That is what I thought - but Brian wrote something else:

Should there really be such differences in the UK and the AU?

He could always try the Foxtel PUC with the sky box and see how he goes

Many thanks for your insight Michael.

I will try the ‘red’ long press for record tonight and have another go at the guide with the colour buttons.

Thanks for the long press red button record heads up Michael - it works!

Any other tips? On the Sky remote there is a ‘sky’ button at the very top which is basically an instant shortcut to your recordings. Obviously we don’t have this button on a Beoremote One.. are you aware of another way to shortcut to recordings or is it just the long way round?

When you say ‘Sky guide’ I am unsure what you mean - I press ‘Guide’ on my Beoremote One and that takes me straight into the ‘Sky screen’ I guess this is what you mean with ‘Sky guide’?

I’m slowly getting to grips with it and it is nice to have ditched the clunky sky remote!

MM,

I’m getting quite fed up with the lack of response from the BC2 in this setup. It doesn’t react to either a Beo4 or a Beoremote One. The only way to control it is to walk over to it and press the alu panels and even that doesn’t give you full control. Any ideas how to merge it into the setup in a better way or is it just a question of an ML/NL converter? I could live with it if I had at least basic operation from a remote..
