Hi - new forum user and would appreciate any kind advice and help. Just bought a Beovision 7-40 and wanted to ask if its possible to use Beolab 2000 speakers with masterlink cable for sound from the TV? Tried connecting up but no luck and the TV only offers options of Beolink 7.1-4 and Beolab 6000 in sound menus. Is it possible to get sound via Beolab 2000? Thanks
Hi richardao,
Welcome to Beoworld! Beolab 2000 is designed as a link room speaker, so it works best in a separate room away from the main B&O system. However, you can link it directly to the Beovision 7 TV with a Masterlink cable if you wish, to use as a TV speaker:-

A better option could be a sound bar like Beolab 7-x, or stereo paired speakers like Beolab 6000, but anything is possible! Please ask if you need any further help.
Kind regards, Steve.

Not an ideal speaker as it is a LINK speaker but should work. You will need to look at the option you put the speaker into to make it work. It is probably currently set to OPTION 6 as that is the factory setting and in thtat option I think you need to use LINK then TV / DTV (depending on whether you curently use TV or DTV to operate your TV). I assume you are using a BEO 4 remote? Do you know how to use the LIST button to get LINK in the screen? Press LIST until you see LINK in the screen then press the TV or DTV button. That should turn the speaker on and hopefully hear the TV sound.
I'm not familliar with the BV7 but if I recall it does not have any speaker built in. Connecting the BL2000 via Masterlink is not affected by the Speaker menu in the TV only speakers connected to the Powerlink sockets will be affetced, however it may be worth choosing Beolab 6000 anyway.
Here are the possible option settings for the speaker. give them all a try until one of them works.
Option 0: To be used if you want to disable remote control operation of the BeoLab 2000 (to re-enable remote control, select one of the other options).
Option 4: To be used if you install the BeoLab 2000 in the same room as your main system (e.g. in a large L-shaped living room with two separate listening positions).
Option 5: To be used if you install a Bang & Olufsen TV set in the link room as well.
Option 6: To be used in a setup with the main system in one room and the BeoLab 2000 in another. (this is the factorysetting).
Using a Beo4 to change the options: – Hold the • button while pressing LIST. When the Beo4 display reads OPTION?, press GO. – Press LIST twice to display L.OPT and then key in the appropriate number (0, 4, 5 or 6).
Good luck
