Yesterday, we saw a a software update to audio bluetooth products that enables pairing and control with a BeoRemote One BT. However, there is no support for LIGHT/CONTROL functions! This is a disappointment.
UPDATE:
It seems that you need to first enable forwarding of LIGHT/CONTROL commands to the blgw in the audio product settings BEFORE pairing the remote in order for LIGHT and REMOTE to appear. However, pressing the commands listed under LIGHT or CONTROL has no effect. Can anyone confirm if this is the situation for them? Is is the same for a BeoRemote BT paired to control a BeoVision?
come again? So we can now use a BROne with a BeoSound 1?
Yes. We can!
However, I can't get the LIGHT or CONTROL on the BeoRemote One to work. Could this have something to do with the new BeoLiving Intelligence not using legacy IR commands? Do we need to change the macros somehow?
Aussie Michael:😱😱😱 Do I have to put it into beosound mode ? Is there a manual for all of the functions and or models you can use it with? 🥳🥳🥳

I believe it works with all of the multiroom BT audio systems except for the Moment. I emailed Lyle and he responded that the Moment won't be updated to support a BT remote.
All you have to do is make sure your audio device is updated with the new software that rolled out this week. Then, you use the B&O app to make the product open for remote pairing and then open the BeoRemote for pairing. The BeoRemote will automatically list the audio product by name in its product list. You can add multiple audio devices to the list and they will remember their pairing. The BeoRemote One will list all of its audio sources under the MUSIC button. Here's the fun part: TuneIn will list all of your favorite music stations on the remote!
Aussie Michael: come again? So we can now use a BROne with a BeoSound 1?
The current BS1, yes....not the old one!
However, you can use a BROne in ir-mode for that.
N.B. This is already rhe third thread about this new support of the BROne/bt 🤔

This thread relates to the home automation with BLGW.
Stop trolling, MM.
You need to select Remote Controls instead of Bluetooth in the App Configuration page. Then hit "Pair" :)
I've sent an email to Khimo about how the LIGHT/CONTROL commands from the BeoRemote One BT aren't working and to see if perhaps we need to use triggers other than, for example, "any AV Renderer." I'm wondering if this has something to do with how we will need to build macros in the future for the BLI. I'll share with the forum what I learn.

Hi Jeff, did you receive some answers yet?

Khimo responded that they would contact B&O to get details. The update seems to be a bit of a surprise to them. They said that would get back to me, but they haven't yet.
I've noticed that in the BeoLiving Intelligence help files that when listing the ways that triggers can be sent to the BLI, remote control is not included. I'm suspecting that Khimo did not anticipate BeoRemote One BT control to extend to the audio products.
Quick question : As I have a BV8 and a Beoplay A9 in (almost) the same room, I could use the Beoremote to control the A9 directly? That would be interesting for some cases. Of course I can already control the A9 with my current (infrared) Beoremote via Beolink when the BV8 is playing the content from the A9. Now it seems that I can use the A9 with the remote like an infrared product...

That's odd. The ability to send triggers through audio products makes the BLI proposition much more attractive especially now that the B&O TV lineup is rather limited.
The dealer told me that the BLI Essence will offer integration with other smart home products (Hue? Nest?) in future for control without macro's. So much to learn about this new product. Has anyone on the forum already got hold of one?

I agree. I wonder if Khimo just gave up on expecting B&O to implement BeoRemote One BT control of non-IR audio products. I think the BeoRemote One BT integration into home automation would be great even for the BLGW. Voice control is great, but there are times that you just want to silently use your remote control. The BT audio products have had LIGHT/CONTROL forwarding to BLGW in their configuration, but it made no sense unless B&O someday planned to enable the BeoRemote One BT to actually GET the LIGHT/CONTROL commands to the audio products.
I agree. The Essence did relay signals received trough IR already.
For me as a stutterer voice control will never really work, so I hope good old fashioned remotes stay in the mix :)

I have trouble with voice control in the morning when my two dogs are barking at me to get out of bed and walk them. Alexa can't hear me then to turn on the lights! One morning, I told the dogs "Hey. You need to be quiet. Alexa can't speak dog." Then I wondered...CAN she?? I then asked "Alexa, can you speak dog?" To my surprise, she started barking! It really surprised the dogs, too.

I only read this 10 days later!!!

I received a response from Khimo. They have advised that the BeoRemote One BT control of audio products is still a beta feature and is a "work in progress. Hence LIGHT/CONTROL commands are not yet supported in audio products using the Bluetooth remote." They did not provide any indication of when/if the feature will arrive.
Also, in the email, Khimo confirmed that BeoLiving Intelligence control of ML products via an NL/ML Converter will not provide the same level of control as the BLGW provides. They said that in the future, they may write a driver in the BLI that can interface with a BLGW to give us the same level of control we currently have with ML products using the BLGW. So it looks like we should hold onto our existing BLGW as we might need to use it WITH the new BLI. What a mess.
The software update that was just send out for products carries with it a software update to push to the BeoRemote One BT. It's now a finished product out of beta. The LIGHT and CONTROL commands now work via BT! I tried it and it works.
Hi
@Aussie Michael: How many favourite stations to you have?
There seems to be limit since I do not see the full list of favourites. The last ones is not shown. My BeoRemote One BT is paired with a Beosound Essence MK II.
chucky:BLI or also BLGW.?
I"m using it with BLGW. I didn't have to change anything in my macros. The macros that I've been using with the IR commands also work with the BT remote.
Hi Jeff, not sure what you mean. Has anything changed on BeoRemote one ?

ps, my BS5 is now on “my button “ via the converter, fully controleble
Beovision eclipse 65, Beolab 50, Beolab 18, Beovision 11, Beolab 3, Beolab 2, BeoVision 10, MLGW, BeoLink converter Nl/Ml, Beosound 5, BLGW

Yes. This week, B&O pushed out a software upgrade so that we can now use the LIGHT and CONTROL functions of the BeoRemote One BT. This was not possible earlier.
Still not sure I follow. When I got my BR oneBT little over a month ago, I could control my LC2 in IR mode. In BT mode not so. I then got the Eclipse and BLGW, and can now control my Philips Hue light with the BR one in BT mode. Sorry what has changed? I can still control my LC2, but I have to switch out of BT mode.

This is a new development. If you follow the original topic of the thread, LIGHT and CONTROL commands were not activated as a feature in the original BT upgrade in November. This was confirmed by Khimo. Perhaps the Eclipse software was rolled out a little earlier than that for other devices.
Ahh ok Jeff, thanks for clarifying.
BeoVision Eclipse 55”, Beolab 18s, Beolab 19s, Beosound 1, Beoplay P2, H3, BeoRemote One IR, BeoRemote One BT, Beoplay S8, Beosound Essence MkII, BeoTime
beojeff:Chris- You bring up a really good point. What I find encouraging is that the BeoRemote One can be updated via BT. Therefore, maybe the essence remote could similarly be updated to receive new functions and programming.

That would be nice but nobody will know if Bang & Olufsen engineers thought that far as communication on these topics is... non existing. ;)As there seem to exist 2 variants of the Essence remote (the MK2 features more modes than the MK1 essence remote) it's doubtful that the remote can be updated via Bluetooth.
A Link-Mode for Beo 4 based systems would be a nice addition. The Bang & Olufsen Essence remote is simply the best remote for daily usage scenarios and smart home usage! The table top version is a great solution when you have childreen, as they can't mess up any settings etc. with that simple remote. :)
