Hi,

just received a Beo5 from Denmark and have eagerly started reading about how to config it.

However, I am wondering what version of the tool I should use. In some threads I read about how unstable tools before v5.12 is, on the other hand it seems to be more difficult to configure the Beo5 with 3rd party products using v5.12. The 3rd party products I would like to include in my config are:

LG TV

Samsung TV

Playstation 3

Apple TV

Cambridge Audio receiver

For the configuration, I am hoping that I can use the PC with Win7 my company provides me and it would be great if I did not have to install Win XP (although that's doable).

So, basically I am wondering:

What version should I use?

Can I use my PC wth Win7?

Appreciate any help!

My B&O products: Beosound 9000, Beosound 2300, Beosound Century, Beolab 8000, Beolab 6000, Beolab 4000 x2, Beolab 3500, Beolab 2000, Beolab 10, Beolink Active x2, Beotime, Beo5 x2, Beo4, A9 keyring x2, LC2 dimmer x6 and growing....

Hello, It is possible to control the LG TV and Apple TV with not too much trouble because the config tool has Apple TV and I can send you an XML file that I use with my LG TV.

Regarding the Cambridge you would need to get a file for it.

PS3 only works with Bluetooth sadly and the Beo5 does not. You would need something like a schmartz http://www.schmartz.com/PS3IRX1-Infrared-Adapter-for-PlayStation-3/M/B003FQCBJ4.htm Then i have a file which will help. Controlling the PS3 with Beo5 is not too easy to be honest and i regularly use the standard remote for it.

I am not sure regarding Win 7. I'm using a MacBook with XP running V6.0 and it runs perfect. Any problems get in touch.

Here's my result after using CT 5.12 and a lot of XML:ing in Notepad. Still some things to do but starting to look ok and I can control all my products (except the PS3 as I need to buy some kind of IR dongle).

Rivenflush:

After having spent a weekend programming my Beo5 I have managed to unleash some of its possibilities. What a wonderful piece of art!

Zones:

Kitchen:

Lounge:

Channel screen (homemade as I have a non B&O TV):

Bedroom:

Will redo some of the icons to get the "Text" more visible when I find the time.

Do you manage to control Sky TV with the Beo5 without a B&O tv?

As I live in Sweden I do not have a Sky TV. However, I do not see why this should not be possible as long as you can retrieve the IR codes and can convert them to the NEC format in bits.

A prerequisite for adding a 3rd party product is that you have another B&O product in the same zone (i.e. room). However, it doesn't necessarily need to be a real physical product, just add a fake one in the tool and then you can delete/ hide the buttons that you do not need. You will not be able to use the default Channel page with 3rd party products (at least not without some serious XML editing) but you can create your own like I did which works well once you get the hang of it.
